Our annual golf outing with 16-20 friends has taken us to many courses in the area, and while we genuinely enjoy the courses at Stonegate, we will not be returning to the Grill. The service—or rather, the complete lack of it—has been a persistent and frustrating issue for three years now.
Every year, we make it a point to visit the bar and restaurant after our rounds, as that is part of the tradition. Unfortunately, the staff consistently ignores us. They will reach over our shoulders to serve local patrons at the bar while we sit with cash in hand, waiting patiently for nearly half an hour with no acknowledgment or service. We’ve observed them serve locals next to and behind us, seemingly with no regard for our presence. It’s so blatant that it feels like an unwritten policy rather than simple oversight.
Initially, we tried giving the staff the benefit of the doubt, understanding that everyone can have an off day. But after the same dismissive treatment over three consecutive years, it’s clear that this is a systemic issue. The professionalism at this establishment leaves much to be desired.
Importantly, we cannot comment on the quality of the food because, after nearly an hour of being ignored, we simply left without dining. We chose to spend our money at another restaurant nearby, which was a far better experience overall.
For out-of-towners or non-locals, I would advise saving your time and money. It’s clear that the staff has little interest in serving guests who aren’t locals, which is a shame given the course’s potential. Their business model seems to prioritize local patrons over visitors, which is a poor stroke of judgment and likely damaging to their reputation.
If I were an investor, I’d be disappointed with such a strategy. A little professionalism and acknowledgment could go a long way, and perhaps they should consider re-evaluating whether they want to operate as a public establishment or go private if they prefer to serve locals exclusively.
In summary, the golf course may be enjoyable, but don’t bother with the Grill unless you’re content with being ignored and treated as an outsider. There are many other places nearby that value all customers equally and deliver the service you deserve
It wasxa nice evening. We would go there again. With a lot of people, it was a bit noisy.
I own a consulting company near Atlanta and service primarily medical facilities thorough out the southeast. I work long hours and try to find good local restaurants instead of the chain fare. Out here near Poinciana Medical, there’s not a whole lot compared to other places I visit.
Today I decided to search out restaurants on Google Maps and this one was very close. Since I also love golf, I decided to give it a try.
I am so glad I did!!
The hostess began the experience by being very pleasant. She let me select a table and then brought me my coffee and water when she learned the waitress was occupied. That’s high touch.
My waitress, Michelle, was soon there as well and took my order…the Shrimp Po Boy. She was also pleasant and attentive, but not smothering.
The food came out quickly. I won’t lie and say it was the best ever or life changing. But, it was very good with large, nicely fried shrimp. And the Cajun Remoulade was perfectly spicy. The fries were both hot and crispy…so good!!
Light pop music in the background behind the various groups talking about life over lunch rounded out the experience as I relaxed with my second cup of coffee. I was not rushed at all.
For a respite away from work that included great food and service, I was charged a grand total of $15.86. What a steal!!! Unfortunately, I’m only down here every 6 months.
