The views of being on the porch are lovely and breathetaking. Came here for our son 11th B Day and he enjoyed the area out and the views of the lake. The food was sooo tasty The boys really enjoyed the dessert!!!

I got the burger with medium rare beef, mushroom and cheddar cheese. It was a delicious big burger, the chef made it exactly medium rare with melt in my mouth patty and fantastic fries.
I had enough restaurant burger that taste way worse than In n Out burger where I have to spit the chewy meat out. But this is very well worth the price!!
My husband Texas cheesesteak sandwich also very fresh and tasty he swallowed it so fast. Our server was also super nice and attentive! Definitely will come back again and try other dishes!

Overall it is a nice place to have dinner after a full day of driving. Food is good. Guitar player, tv, and relaxing service.

Only problem we had was the entrance was not very friendly meaning it looked like it was closed and no way of knowing if it was opened or not. There were dim lights on that looked like it was kept on just to expose themselves even when they are closed. We figured it was opened due to cars in parking lot.

This was a little gem in Lago Vista! The vibe was chill and the service was phenomenal! Nikki was our server and she was so quick and attentive. We had the curds, Buffalo chicken wrap and the Texas cheesesteak. All 10/10! I was confused reading about the racial profiling bc we are Arabs and were treated with the utmost love and respect. Def coming back during the day for the views and food!

I have been there twice in the last month. First experience was great! Service was fast and efficient; food was delicious and the view cannot be beat!
The second visit was yesterday, a Saturday. The view, again was beautiful. The service was deplorable. We spent most of our time waiting to be served. I could understand if it had been crowded, but it was not.
The food was ok. The chips were way too salty and the burger was not cooked as requested.
I’ll go back because of the view and atmosphere, but if service and the quality of food are not acceptable, it will be my last visit.

***Update: My grandson and I returned to The Grill at Highland Lakes over the Christmas Break and I am pleased to say the service was excellent! I ordered the bacon & jalapeño wrapped shrimp and they were perfect! Just the right amount. My grandson ordered a steak and it had his stamp of approval. I also had a glass of the house white wine for $4.00. HH price! I am so happy to give them another thumbs up! This place is a “hidden” gem! Don’t forget….they have a great view!

BEAUTIFUL building! My rating is due to the fact that nobody came to the matinee to check if a customer (me) was there, I walked in to find the bartender and I assume the events coordinator chatting loudly with what seemed like a regular Clientele couple and after glancing at me a few times finally asked if I wanted to eat there. I said yes, and the coordinator lady told me to sit anywhere. I sat close to the front because I’d already lost 5 minutes at the entrance waiting on someone then 3 minutes watching two employees chat away with the couple at the bar. The waitress passed me to give the couple that came in before me water and take their drink orders, she passed me again and brought them liquor, then she looked at me, tapped on her tablet (I assume their food order) and passed me again. I’m now sitting here for 10 minutes (yes, I counted) and the waitress had passed me a few more times to bring more liquor to the couple that walked in ONE minute before me, bring the outside TV remote to a couple ladies outside, then pass me again to bring them some bloody marys. At this point, I turned my whole body around and stared directly at the bartender and events coordinator/hostess who were taking LOUDLY with the bar couple the ENTIRE time. The bartender kept glancing at me, but continued talking with the couple. Waitresses are coming in to start their shifts and standing at the bar talking with the bartender and hostess. Finally, I made the bartender uncomfortable enough for her to at least comment on me staring at her because the couple she’d been chatting with the whole time both looked at me as well as the hostess then they all turned back around. After a couple hushed whispers, the bartender asks if I’ve been helped. I sighed and said no, then she looks for the waitress walking back and forth to the TWO tables of customers (So note that there’s only 3 tables with customers at it and I was ignored the entire time) and finally tells one of the flock of next-shift waitresses to say hi to me because she assumes I’m the lady that drove TWO HOURS here because this is the caterer for the wedding venue (1. I was indeed the lady that drove the TWO HOURS to check them out (I called ahead) 2. If you even had the slightest assumption that I visited your restaurant to consider you as my wedding caterer, WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW ME TO SIT THERE BEING IGNORED FOR 15 MINUTES?!?). I can only assume they make enough with their bar and catering other weddings that they’re able to simply pick and choose whom they provide service to. Finally I get offered some water and I ask which items would be similar to the wedding catered menu. I choose one and it comes out quickly. I take a bite of the parmesean chicken alfredo and it WAS BLAND. Salt and pepper couldn’t save that poor thing.

Positive note: I only wasted/invested $20 to find out I’d rather throw down the $500 to NOT have this place cater my wedding because my guests and I will starve before we get serviced and they could make a dog hair sandwich that’d taste better for the money than what these robbers were tryna pull. And if I can’t bring an outside vendor, I just have my wedding elsewhere!

Side Note: (I hate to stir this ever-simmering pot) I REALLY hope this incident was solely due to their overall poor customer service and NOT the color of my skin. Considering there were only THREE tables and I was the ONLY person of color in there, I really don’t see how I was missed. I got multiple looks from everyone in there including the employees, yet I still received no service until I stared two people down for 6-8 minutes. Again, even with just one waitress, she found time to give the other two tables a round of water, two rounds of liquor, and a dang remote, and I couldn’t even get a “Hello” or a “I’ll be right with you.”

We stayed in Lago Vista for the first time the other week and were in search of some good food. The Grille at Highland Lakes hit the spot!

We ordered brisket tacos (pictured on our paper plates), cheese curds, and a burger to go. It was all fantastic! The brisket tacos were full of vibrant flavors. The pico was fresh and brought a ton of color, while the brisket was nice and smoky.

Being from the Midwest, I’m often saddened by Texas’ lack of cheese curds. Fortunately, the Grille at Highland Lakes was able to deliver there as well! Their cheese curds were nice and fresh with a great breading, and the cheese itself wasn’t too salty either. They were absolutely perfect for dipping in their ranch.

All in all this was a wonderful meal. We’ll likely be ordering from there again the next time we find ourselves in the area!

As a person of color I loved this place and it’s vibe.

First seating your self is better that waiting for someone else to tell you where to sit

Second our waitress Nikki was on point right there when I need her fast and let me feel like I am appreciated

Third food for me and my wife was just great I couldn’t wait to take a picture of it before I demolished it

Hope all y’all have fun there

Great staff! Met the owner of the golf course. Very personable and friendly. He found out we were visiting from away and came out to introduce himself. Food was delicious and beer was cold. Sat outside in May. Beautiful views! Came in the middle of the day mid-week when it wasn’t busy at all.
