Came here based on reviews from Google. We were looking for a casual comfort food place in the area. Glad we came here, greeted by a friendly host the minute we stepped into the restaurant. It wasn’t that busy on Saturday evening, so we were able to pick our own table. This place has a lot of TVs, which is great since the Warriors were playing. Our server was great and she took our drinks and food order quickly. She confirmed that we were OK with the ingredients, mushroom in the sauce, steak cooked to medium rare, etc.
Relaxed atmosphere, family friendly. There is a separate bar area, and folks were enjoying themselves.
Food came quickly and cooked well. And food was reasonably priced.
This one will definitely become our regular go-to place, especially when there is a game.

We usually eat next door at Bagel Street Cafe during the day and sometimes get a beer at Grill House. The bartender was cool because he used to let me bring a pint glass to the outdoor seating area. We prefer sitting outside because this is our midpoint during our bicycle rides. This is my first time eating at Grill House. I came here because Riley’s hot food self station was closed at 7:30pm. I ordered a cheeseburger with garlic fries $20. It came out in about 10 minutes. It tasted OK. The bun was really dry and they put too much mustard on it. It tasted sour. A better option would be garlic aioli sauce or even plain mayo. Red onions would have made this burger 2x better but it was not included. The garlic fries needed more garlic taste. No garlic burn here. Service was excellent. Good job crew at Grill House.

Really nice place, friendly staff and great beer selection. The waiter brought out some different beers to try when I was unsure which beer to go with. It was happy hour, so $2 off the beers.
I had the half rack of ribs which was really tasty and came with beans and Mac & Cheese salad.

This place was so good we ate there 2 nights in a row. The spicy pineapple burger special was AWESOME!!! Clam chowder and tomato soup and grilled cheese was amazing!!

This review is a bit overdue. Stopped in here in 2021. Back when I was looking for a home in Redwood Shores. No smile, no greeting, slow service. But they did have time to come over to my table to bark about a bag of chips I happened to buy earlier at the grocery store next door that I was munching on while waiting for my server. Matter of fact when I walked in, there wasn’t even a host up front so I sat myself at the bar. I was basically ignored up until they saw me pull a few potato chips out of the bag while waiting. Then suddenly I had their full attention and was told I couldn’t eat outside food in the restaurant. I responded with, fine can I order then? They magically proceeded to take my order after seeing me eating chips. They could have taken my order much earlier instead of letting me just sit there waiting.
As I was looking over the menu I couldn’t help but noticed the manager constantly looking over quite rudely, likely watching to see if I would eat any more of my potato chips so he could come over and bark at me as well. Just excessively petty and unprofessional. Just downright dumb behavior tbh.
Super uncomfortable, which is not the feeling you should get when patronizing a restaurant. There are millions of restaurant options to choose from in Redwood City & San Mateo County. This place is nothing special. However the staff acts as if they are the last restaurant on the planet. The people that work there also do not seem happy. Almost as if they hate their lives. I did not see a single employee smile a single time I was there. I’ve noticed this vibe with redwood shores in general. You can go to amici’s next door, nob Hill groceries next door, you’ll experience the same type of frowns and negative energy from the employees working there as well on any given day. You’ll almost never see anyone in Redwood Shores smile or say hello. And I grew up in San Francisco.. So I know the Bay Area well.
The five guys next to Griill House is the only restaurant In Redwood Shores where the employees actually greet you upon entering and are happy to take your order. As for the food at Grill House, it’s a bit overpriced and this was in 2021. I can’t imagine their prices these days. Food was mediocre at best. Not just saying this because their customer service and overall etiquette is horrible towards customers. Just a terrible place to dine. Why would you spend your hard earned money at Grill House just to get dirty looks from management, while eating an overpriced meal, slow service, mediocre food. There was too many other options locally with better food and far superior service.
Skip Grill House and Redwood Shores in general. The entire town including its businesses like this restaurant, if you can call it that, are full of Debbie Downers and negative Nellie’s

I ate here with my 3yr-old son on Tuesday, 6/10/25, at approximately 5:30 PM.
The service was timely and every staff member was helpful and happy. They checked on us regularly, and the food was delivered promptly.
My son wanted macaroni and cheese for dinner. Nob Hill’s hot bar didn’t have any, so we came to the next best place. 😀
He loved it!
I myself got the Grill House burger, cooked Medium Well, with side of fries. I have to say the fries tasted a tad bit over seasoned for my preference, but they were still cooked very well and the burger itself was delicious.
At 5-5:30 PM on a Tuesday, the place was pretty empty. By 6 PM, it began to fill in. Despite the number of people, it was fairly quiet.
Definitely a place I would recommend eating and would visit again!

Great food and beer! The French dip sandwich is soo good. The bread was perfect, reminded me of Louisiana French bread. Great side salad too. They always have a great selection of cold beer on draft. The burger is also very good.
