Title: A Soul Food Masterpiece – Worth the Drive from VA Beach!
If you’re looking for a sign to make the 45-minute trek from Virginia Beach to Elizabeth City, this is it. After scouting a few spots, I followed my gut (and the reviews) to The Grill, and man, am I glad I did.
The moment we stepped inside, we were hit with warm smiles and that unmistakable “welcome home” energy. The service was lightning-fast; we were seated and our orders were taken before we could even finish taking in the cozy atmosphere.
The Food:
Chicken Yok & Lemon Pepper Wings: The Yok (with eggs and onions) was seasoned to perfection, and those wings? To. Die. For. Crispy, zesty, and dangerously delicious.
Hamburger Steak with Gravy & Onions: This was the star of the show. It was so tender I didn’t even need a knife—it practically melted. Pair that with their Mac, potato salad, and yams, and you’ve got a plate that tastes like Grandma herself was in the back “throwing down.”
The Finish:
We couldn’t leave without dessert, so we grabbed the Honey Bun Cake and Fresh Rice Pudding. Both were amazing, though the portions were so generous we had to tap out!
This is down-home soul food at its absolute finest. Everything here is clearly cooked with love. Do yourself a favor and get here Thursday through Sunday. We will definitely be back!

Ms. Vann going to take you back to grandma’s house and your childhood every single time. You can taste the love in everything. That darn lemon pepper chicken is always seasoned to the bone.. But that pork chop cabbage and Mac and cheese with the cornbread. What!! SUNDAY DINNER on a Saturday.. ate the food to fast for pictures!!

Here 10/2/20 Friday ordered special which was fish, shrimp and fries with some ole bay seasoning. Staff like family. Ate here last week fries and wings, delicious! Food is great! Will be back!

says they’re open tel 6 today on their website and google both called 6 times not a single answer drove down 45 minutes to get here to get some food because the hours said it was open and it’s locked and shut without warning. deft not coming back don’t recommend anyone to waiste their time
