Last minute brunch walk in – decor was eclectic, food was banging and service was relaxed.
It’s a bar in the evenings too which would probably be fun!

It was nothing to write home about but a nice cozy spot for a casual brunch with friends. Food portions could have been a bit bigger (I felt my plate was lacking fruit or something?) and service could have been a little more perky…We waited over an hour for our bills and when we flagged down our waitress to get them she signaled she was off the clock – she was sitting at the bar. She could have at least let us know she was ending her shift and offered the bills, so I thought that was a bit cold. But overall decent.

Good breakfast and a pleasant venue. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. A nice spot to stop by in the morning when traveling in the West Village area.

NY used to have a lot of restaurants that were both affordable and had quality food. Now they seem in short supply. It was refreshing to discover Grey Dog.
Grey Dog is a great place for brunch.

Good coffee, nice spot for brunch! They had vegan, and vegetarian friendly options, and the place is dog friendly. I tried the bean soup which was great, and a hearty cup of fruits. The tofu bites, and grilled cheese dippers were incredible!

The Grey Dog has such a cozy, laid-back vibe that makes it feel like a little getaway in the city. Perfect for hanging out with friends, chatting over brunch, or just taking a break from the usual hustle. The place is charmingly rustic, and the staff was really friendly, which made us feel super welcome right from the start.
As for the food, it was…fine! Nothing mind-blowing, but it definitely hit the spot. We had some classic dishes—sandwiches, soups, breakfast plates—the kind of comforting food you’d expect. It might not have been the most memorable meal I’ve had, but honestly, the warm vibe and great coffee made up for it.
Would I go back? Definitely! For the chill atmosphere, friendly service, and the chance to unwind with good company, The Grey Dog is a solid choice.
