Was privileged to try out this beautiful spot in Hamilton! The atmosphere was truly something different and unique for the area. The concept combines elegance and creativity while providing a comfortable and classy environment.

The small bites and cocktails were well thought out and amazing! Really excited for the restaurant and pastry elements to come. The owners were very pleasant and accommodating, definitely plan on returning!!

We saw post on Facebook about the opening and decided to check it out. We were a little confused about how things worked, as when we arrived it was somewhat crowded but no employee at the door at that time. We didn’t realize Carmagnola was not yet open. So, we’re just trying to figure out where to go. Soon, we were greeted by the manager who’d been seating other guests. She was helpful, welcoming and we felt valued as guests.

As previously mentioned, we were initially interested in dining at Carmagnola on 3rd, but learned they aren’t quite open yet. The Grey is the sister business, right next door. Although our initial intent wasn’t The Grey, we’re glad things worked out as they did. We had a really nice time and are excited for this addition in Hamilton.

The vibe is great. We loved the atmosphere, the employees and the food. They’ve only been open a few weeks, and while the staff is still admittedly learning, they were fantastic. Our servers were kind and knowledgeable. Even the server who was training and it was her first day, she did great! We believe The Grey fills a much needed niche in Hamilton for small bites and drinks with a “classy” feel. We were seated upstairs, it’s a more quiet space, and was nice.

The food- yum! We like looking at reviews for suggestions and always appreciate visuals, so I included some in the review. We ordered the Charcuterie board with the add on accompaniments of Marinated Goat Cheese & Caponata (2nd photo), Freedom Farms Lamb Spedini – you choose how many screwers you’d like to order (3rd photo) and Local Lamb Sausage Stuffed Banana Peppers (4th photo) and added on some bread. Many of these items we’d never heard of before, but are glad we tried them, they were truly delicious. The presentation was lovely and you can tell that the chef takes pride in the dishes. My husband also had a couple beers.

We will be back soon and are excited to see how this all comes together with the sister business next door. The smallest suggestion- we would have loved to see the addition of some hard cheese and another choice of bread or cracker included with the charcuterie board.

Well done The Grey on 3rd!

Stopped in late Saturday evening and despite it being extremely busy it was such a fun time. It was almost like a show watching the two bartenders handle the lively crowd and make drinks. We were lucky enough to arrive right before the place was packed and grabbed a seat in front of all of the action. The cocktail menu and spirit selection is exciting. There’s so much to choose from in this beautifully designed bar and even if it’s not on the menu, they can come up with something you’re going to love if you give them a direction you want to go in.

The Meishan Pork Old Fashioned was a rich, tasty cocktail that had me wishing I had a plate of smoked meats and cheese to accompany it. Next time we will have to arrive early enough to eat here again so I can accomplish that!

This bar is incredible and a cocktail experience comparable to anywhere I’ve visited in the world.

Next level beverage and food experience! What an incredible treat it is to have true fine dining in Hamilton. The staff, though new, were attentive, and knowledgeable. Every one of the 8 plates we had were better than the next and inventive. Oysters were so refreshing and fresh. The drinks were a 10/10. Definitely will be back!

Beautiful building. Manager has no clue. She is extremely rude and there is no reason for the “better than you” attitude. Such a shame too. I will drive and spend my money at The Banks. Better people, friendlier management in Cincinnati. Unfortunately this “upscale” bar will fail because of the manager and because it’s Hamilton. Such a shame.

I was disappointed with my recent visit. I had made a reservation two weeks in advance, confirmed it the night before, and arrived 10 minutes early, but there was no clear check-in process. After waiting several minutes at the empty host stand in the dining room, I eventually realized the person I thought was another guest was actually the host that had been standing talking directly in front of me since I had walked into the dining area and seen me do so. Her reaction of frustration once I provided my name and a side comment she made to the other guests made it clear my table was about to be given away to them and I had spoiled that by showing up, all of which set a negative tone for the evening from the start that was hard to recover from.

Once seated, a few small issues added up: only one drink and one food menu was provided for two people and did not get the single food menu until after we received our drinks, there was no place to put jackets or purses besides the floor, the chairs were very uncomfortable, and it took about 15 minutes to receive two drinks as only one bartender was there tending to the fully booked bar area and having to make very complex drinks. On the positive side, our server was very pleasant and checked in often, albeit clearly newer to being a server, and the cocktails themselves were excellent.

Overall, at the price point and with the elevated experience the establishment seems to be aiming for, I expected more. I had been excited to return to try the dining room but have no plans to as there are better options in Cincinnati that understand what needs to be delivered as a high-end lounge and restaurant. Unfortunately, I would far recommend Jag’s, The Precinct, Carlo & Johnny, MRBL, etc. if you are looking for a great experience from start to finish at a similar price.

This place is incredible. I’m so very glad that Hamilton has something this nice and fancy. The city deserves to have food this good. The bread is made in house, it’s wonderful. The drinks are so good. Service was excellent and they care a lot. Wonderful place. Go and try it.
