Where do I begin? Looking for Thai food I promise don’t try anywhere else. The Green Papaya is the place to go! I’ve tried many great Thai spots and I would recommend this heavily. If you’re not sure what to order my go to is Pad Thai crispy chicken. This spot is seriously great with such a delicious variety of food. I’ve been eating here for years and it never gets old whether it’s summer or winter I’ll always eat here.

Do you want to have someone cooking their Thai family recipes and other authentic traditional northern Thai and fusion cuisine.. please look no further! The food literally speaks for itself and isn’t boosted by industry practices of excessive use of salt or sugar. Her Belgian husband runs (again literally) the front end and has brought the most incredible, authentic Belgian chocolate mouse to the dessert menu. He is so nice, authentic, and caring about what they do together at Green Papaya!
My favorites include the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer, vegetable Tom Yum soup, Laos green papaya salad, the spicy Larb special (not the appetizer) and the seafood hot pot. Even though I always order my dishes spicy, they will adjust spice levels to your needs.
I could eat here weekly if I lived in the area…. but when I have the time, they’re open, and I’m driving through Canton… I’m absolutely stopping in for a wonderful meal!
5 easy stars!!!

Take a Belgian and have him open a Thai restaurant…sounds odd? Well that’s exactly what this is! Turns out this is a labor of love by a Belgian (Dirk in our story) who married into a Thai family and eventually moved to this part of Connecticut. The flavors of the Thai food are fantastic and the heat (I’m always careful not to go beyond Medium for Thai) is as per CT standards (read very mild). The twist to this is the option to indulge in some excellent Belgian chocolate mousse aaand if you prefer buy Leonidas chocolates after dinner. Quant and sweet interiors and the food – soup, entree and the dessert was excellent. Can’t go wrong if you’re in the area so definitely give Dirk’s restaurant, The Green Papaya a chance and you won’t regret it.

I had a great time here ! I went on a Tuesday night around 4:30/5, no wait time. The waiter was exceptionally kind. I absolutely loved the chicken satay with peanut sauce. And they’re halal!! I stayed for a while to read as well. Would definitely return here.

My favorite Thai restaurant in Connecticut. A family owned business. I come here for a more authentic Thai food. They have one of the best green papaya salads; portion is so big it is enough to share between 2 to 3 people. I love everything they have on the menu, especially the chef specials. Owners and servers are super friendly and always a joy to dine here. If you like dessert, don’t forget to ask for the Belgium chocolate mousse.

Had a great experience with my family at this cute little restaurant. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. The owners made you feel at home. And I definitely recommend their desserts even if it’s to take home. Will definitely be going back there again for sure.

I love Thai food (I may be biased since I am half Thai lol). This Thai spot is near me and I drive by it all the time; I’ve been meaning to try it out. I love that it’s in a historic house, parking was spacious and on the side of the house. I follow their social media and see their presence online; they seem nice and the food looked great.
My family and I ordered takeout. I had the chicken pad Thai. I really wanted to like it but it was underwhelming and bland. The noodles were drier than other pad Thai noodles I’ve had and lacked any color; and I’ve had my fair share, it’s one of my favorite meals. Also, the prices compared to other Thai restaurants nearby were higher. The Belgian chocolate mousse dessert was perfect though. I had a taste of my husband’s green curry chicken and it was good, I liked it better than the pad Thai; however, there was very little chicken in it. I’ll have to try out their other menu items and come back with an update.

Grateful to the charming company I dined with and atmosphere (2nd date); the accommodating host/waiter and the kitchen! I felt really at ease asking questions, sharing my food allergies and trusting the employees know what items would quench my cravings.
The food was prepared fresh and without delay and we weren’t rushed from our tables.
I really enjoyed the experience.

Amazing food! I have celiac disease & they can make over 40 dishes gf. I waited to do my review to make sure I didn’t get cross-contamination (or a reaction bc I also have an allergy) & NO CROSS-CONTAMINATION! Not only is the food at this restaurant DELICIOUS, but it is also SAFE for those with dietary restrictions! My go-to from now on! Thank you Green Papaya, you’ve made me very happy
