
The Grateful Thai is the sisterhood of the Humble Thai, modernising and pushing the boundaries of Thai food in our home of Newcastle. It is contemporary Thai with a fresh twist created by Chef Wirat. He came from a family of engineers, so he ended up doing a degree in chemical engineering. He worked in the office and found he wanted to change, but he still didn’t know-how. Finally, he got a chance to stay in Australia, so it was the time for a career. Now, he is the chef for Absolute Thai and owner-chef for Humble Thai and The Grateful Thai. The true uniqueness of the Humble and Grateful Thai is the homemade curry paste. They truly believe flavours begin with the right ingredients.

The meals we ordered were delicious. Tom Yum Soup with chicken ( served in a beautiful bowl on a stand with a tea light inside the stand), satay chicken skewers, and holy basil chicken, and drinks were a glass of wine and a stone and wood beer.
Service was fast and friendly.
Happily recommend, and would definitely choose here next time we visit Lake Macquarie Charlestown Square.
Even though the server was lovely and got us a hot Panang Curry made, the damage is done. Will never eat here again.
Atmosphere was very nice
Food was overall delicious. There was one dish that was quite salty but we ordered a bowl of plain rice and it wasn’t a problem.
Would definately return next time we visit Charlestown.
