A true local watering hole with a phenomenal food selection that punches way above expectations—think hearty comfort dishes, creative specials, and something for everyone.
It’s a food lover’s hidden gem. Crab Deviled Eggs, Chicken Taquitos, BBQ Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp, The ‘I’m Walkin’ Here’ Ciabatta, and the Short Rib ‘Grateful Melt’are just a taste of the menu’s creativity.
Every plate leaves you satisfied but still curious, the kind of cooking that keeps your fork ready before the next dish even hits the table. It’s that perfect blend of comfort and surprise that makes you think, I can’t wait to try what’s next.
Highly recommend you stop by and give it a try!
We ordered the Jungle Bird, Georgian Boulevardier, short rib melt, “sausage” parm sub, pierogies, and finished with an ice cream sandwich. The cocktails were both tasty, though the Boulevardier was on the sweeter side. I just let the ice melt and sipped it slowly. Beer selection is also really nice with $6 pours on certain drafts. ♀️
Both sandwiches were fantastic! I was worried that they would be too skimpy on filling based on other reviews, but I thought the amount provided was PERFECT. Anything further would have been too much for the strong flavours they had going. The short rib + picked onions absolutely popped! Veg sausage with marinara and mozz was an interesting riff that we also loved. Even the bread on both sandwiches was top notch.
The pierogies were tasty, but had a little bit of a stale crunch. Not sure if they sat in a window for too long or what. Good if you’re craving them, but I’m not sure if they rocked my socks as much as the sandwiches.
We weren’t hungry anymore, but got the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich to finish. It was huge, so my husband and I split it. The ice cream had great texture and wasn’t grainy or crystalized at all like you sometimes find with house-made stuff.
All-in-all, SoBo Market is an absolute gem that is going on our short list of reliable places that can serve up well-seasoned, balanced food. Whenever we have a bad meal, now we can swing by here to palate cleanse.
Edit: Subsequent visits have slapped just as hard as the first time. I love this place so much.
