Reviews
I don’t normally leave reviews, but this experience was so bad that I feel people need to be aware before deciding to eat here. This was without question one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
We arrived at 5:50 pm for our 6:00 reservation and were seated quickly. Our waitress Kaitlyn came by and took our order around 6:10. From that point on, everything went downhill. The restaurant had a party of 22 people upstairs, and no one thought to mention that when we sat down or when we ordered. That should have been disclosed, because no one should be waiting over an hour and a half for four meals — two steaks, chicken wings, and a burger and not to mention, it was cold. We absolutely would have left if we had known how long the wait would be.
By 7:15, we still didn’t have our food. What made it worse was watching the table behind us, who came in at least 45 minutes after we did, get served before us. When we finally asked our waitress what was going on, she told us about the big party upstairs as if that explained everything. It doesn’t. That’s not an excuse for poor service or a total lack of communication.
Then, while waiting, another waitress named Crystal was standing near our table talking negatively about us. Not quietly, either. I don’t know how anyone could think that’s okay in a professional setting. It’s disrespectful and shows a complete lack of basic professionalism.
When our food finally came out, it was cold. My burger had raw bacon on it, not undercooked, not pink, raw. Completely unacceptable. Although the bacon was not cooked and the food was cold and took forever to come out, Kaitlyn, our waitress did have our alcoholic drinks and the burger meal taken off the bill, but unfortunately that doesn’t make up for bad communication.
And let me be clear, I don’t care what kind of excuse or response the owner gives. There is no professionalism in this restaurant whatsoever. From the kitchen to the staff to the management, no one seems to take any accountability. Based on the defensive replies to other reviews, it’s obvious they’d rather argue with customers than fix what’s wrong.
This was a disappointing, frustrating, and honestly embarrassing experience for a place that tries to present itself as a quality restaurant. My family and I won’t be back, and I’ll be sure to tell others about how we were treated. Poor service, rude staff, cold food, and zero professionalism, that about sums it up.
The food was well portioned, the calamari was a great suggestion as it was fresh, light and bursting with flavour.
The Brussels sprouts were out of this world, the portion was extremely generous and the flavour and crunch were absolutely perfect.
The scallops were delicately wrapped in bacon and cooked to perfection, with a sauce that paired nicely with the dish.
Thank you for all your recommendations Alex! You’re a rockstar!
We love the outdoor patio in summer and for the most part, the food is always very good.
The service is also very good.
But then there’s once and awhile where everything goes sideways.
Last Thursday we had dinner there because it was fish and chips night.
We ordered around 5:30 and later we were told that they ran out of fish. At 5:30!
They’re open until 9 or 10 I believe.
My wife was able to order the fish and chips and I tried some chicken noodle teriyaki dish that was okay.
The waitress was okay. Didn’t really seem to want to be there. My impression only.
Quite inattentive.
Ordered two martinis.
Both the espresso martini and my dry gin martini were so watered down.
No olives. No martini glasses.
And what is it with most restaurants in Ontario where you always have to ask for water.
Everywhere else in the world it comes automatically.
We still think it’s one of the better places to go for lunch or dinner but sometimes it’s disappointing.
I read the reviews and was not sure what to expect; however, as we pass by the restaurant while driving into Bancroft all the time off 62N, I decided that this was the perfect occasion to give it a try!
It was the best decision!!! The place is quaint with good decor to start off with. The atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable. Crystal, our server, was attentive throughout the meal starting with the menu and crayons and colouring sheet for my granddaughter. She totally approved of my extensive order! The food was very good, well made, and the desserts were homemade and sumptuous! Other staff members were very generous with goodies for my granddaughter, she loved the celebration for her Mum’s birthday. Overall, we will be stepping into the Granite now for family get togethers or for coffee with friends. We will definitely be back. Thank you Crystal and the friendly staff at the Granite for your warm hospitality during our visit.
