The mutton roast was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavorful spices. The appom was soft, fresh, and perfectly with the mutton. Every bite was satisfying. Definitely coming back again! Highly recommended!

Had a solid craving for South Indian food, and I haven’t had one since ages. This place just hit the right spot, ordered the beef kizhi parotta with papadam. The serving size is enormous, however I devoured it. Delicious.
A little advise to my fellow white friends, do let them know your spice tolerance.
I would definitely suggest this restaurant for South Indian food.

The Grand Malabar India Cuisine, located at 347 Erb St. W #4, Waterloo, ON N2L 1W4, offers a delightful introduction to Malabari cuisine, primarily from the Kerala region of India. The restaurant’s lovely atmosphere enhances the dining experience, creating a welcoming space to enjoy authentic flavors.

The food is truly outstanding, showcasing the rich and diverse culinary traditions of Kerala. Diners can expect a menu filled with flavorful dishes prepared with care and attention to detail. The staff are friendly and attentive, contributing to the overall positive impression. The restaurant maintains a clean and well-kept environment, ensuring a comfortable visit.

While parking is available free of charge, the space is limited, which might pose a slight inconvenience during peak hours. However, the quality of the food and service more than compensates for this minor issue. The Grand Malabar India Cuisine provides a genuine taste of Kerala, making it a must-visit for those seeking an authentic and satisfying Indian dining experience.

We recently visited Grand Malabar in Waterloo and tried their Chicken Biryani Combo (x2), one regular Chicken Biryani, and a Mango Mojito. The Chicken Biryani Combo stands out – generous portions, flavorful rice, and the highlight was the extra chicken fry pieces that added an extra punch of taste. Honestly, this is one of the best chicken biryanis I’ve had in the GTA, and I’d go so far as to say it’s the best biryani spot in Ontario right now.

The restaurant also has private cubicle-style seating, which is a great touch if you want a bit more privacy while dining.

The only small drawback was the pickle served with the biryani – it was slightly frozen and didn’t quite match the high quality of the rest of the meal.

Verdict: Must-visit for biryani lovers. Flavor-packed, good portions, great ambiance. Just fix that pickle!

Great South Indian-Kerala Restaurant @ 347 Erb Street West, #4 Waterloo, ON, Has exotic Kerala Dishes of different types available. I felt one of the best in Waterloo, ON, after visiting different restaurants in University of Waterloo surrounding! The staffs are Very polite & Friendly. Good amount of free parking Available. Only -ve thing we noticed was few flies are let in, may be due to summer season- sidekick-which made me give 4 stars, instead of 5/5. Restrooms too can be improved. I have added the rates of dishes available in the form of pictures.

Through delivery service, I ordered mutton dum biriyani as an experiment, it turns out to be very different than what I know and ate as Indian biriyani. This is light in spices, no extra color, no extra whole spices and very close to bangladeshi tehari in taste, looks like a new favourite place in the region.

I had a satisfying dining experience at Grand Malabar. The kallappam was soft and fresh, and the naadan beef curry was well seasoned, tender and full of traditional flavor. A great place for a comforting Kerala style meal.

The food was really really yummy and tasty.
The actual Malabar Biryani ever tasted in Canada.
Loved every bit of it and enjoyed it. The aroma of authentic Malabar biryani will get when we step into the restaurant. Waited about few minutes to enjoy it because of the rush. The crowd coming to the restaurant is justifiable, as all the variety of food is delicious. We all tried biryani, Porotta, beef and chilli chicken, in one word all – great food. Definitely shall come to taste more dishes.

Just got my prawns fry and it’s a total letdown. They’re completely raw and not even close to being cooked, it’s like they just threw them in a box without even heating them up. Super disappointed with this order.
