We usually come here for their biriyani and mandi, which are always amazing, but this time we decided to try different varieties of dosa — and it was totally worth it. Every dosa was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and served fresh and hot.
Chef Sankar did a fantastic job. The quality and consistency really stand out in every dish. Definitely a place we’ll keep coming back.

Honestly, one of the best restaurants in KWC, in my opinion. I tried their Porotta and Beef Fry and it really reminded me of authentic Kerala taste. The porotta was soft and flaky, and the beef fry was perfectly spiced and full of flavour.

I also tried their Peri Peri Mandi it was top notch. Everything tasted fresh and well cooked. Special mention to Chef Vadivel for the amazing food.
If you’re craving real Kerala-style food, I’d definitely recommend this place. Will be coming back for sure!

Tried the mandi, porotta with beef, and the ghee rice combo — everything was really good and full of flavor. The meat was cooked perfectly and the portions were satisfying.

Tried the Chicken Mandi and Malabari Dum Biryani along with a Mango Lassi — absolutely perfect! The flavors were spot on and so satisfying. I’ve also tried their Mutton Kizhi before, and every time it’s been just as amazing. The ambience is clean and welcoming, and Nifty served us with great care and friendliness. Highly recommend!

This was my first time visiting The Grand Malabar Express in Cambridge, and I was good.
The atmosphere was warm, making it a comfortable place to dine. The staff were friendly and also there were plenty of seats available for dine-in and lots of parking space, which was really convenient.

This Kerala-style restaurant is a great spot for an evening hangout, offering a warm and inviting ambiance with traditional decor. The atmosphere is perfect for relaxing with friends or family. However, the evening snacks were a bit disappointing, lacking the authentic flavors expected from Kerala cuisine. While the presentation was good, the taste didn’t quite stand out. On the positive side, the service was friendly, and the overall vibe made for an enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for a cozy place to unwind, it’s worth a visit, but if food is your main focus, you might want to explore other options.

Honest Review from the Heart – Best Kerala Food in Canada!

Visited Grand Malabar Express in Cambridge three times, and every visit has been amazing – finally writing a review because they truly deserve it!

Tried Beef Kizhi Porotta, Chicken Malabar Dum Biryani, Pazhampori, Egg Puffs, and their special tea today – every item was perfect.
Extra takeout ordered to beat the Monday blues

Food here is not just food –
it’s an emotion.
Biryani, authentic Kerala snacks, and that special chai bring memories, comfort, and love. Authentic taste, consistent quality, warm hospitality, clean space, and reasonable prices – all in one!

Staff are super friendly, and the owner’s family personally ensures high standards. They really need a branch in the GTA – we’re missing real Kerala flavours there!

We will definitely visit again to try other menu items. Highly recommend!

Being a big fan of Grand Malabar in Waterloo, we were excited to try the new Grand Malabar Express in Cambridge—and it did not disappoint!

We ordered the Fish Curry Meal and Chicken Mandi. The mandi is available only in half ($26) and full portions. The taste was excellent, with flavorful rice reminiscent of authentic Kerala-style biryani. It came with delicious mayonnaise and tangy tomato chutney. The chicken was well-cooked, and the mandi overall was exceptional.

The Fish Curry Meal was equally impressive, with a rich, flavorful curry and perfectly cooked fish. The pricing is reasonable, making it a great spot for Kerala food lovers in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge (KWC) region.

A big appreciation for the consistency in taste and quality that Grand Malabar maintains. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant has ample parking. The ambiance is clean and inviting.

Highly recommended!

I have been buying food from them for a very long time. I used to love the quality and taste of dishes especially BDF and biriyani. But recently the quantity & quality both are going down consistently.

I ordered 3 Porotas and it was in a very bad shape like someone was learning to make them. There is a limit to stretch Porota and the one I ordered have lots of empty holes inside.
Also, last beef coconut roast that I ordered was 85% and container wasn’t full enough.
So the verdict is I won’t be not coming back here. Thank you.
