Chef Sankar did a fantastic job. The quality and consistency really stand out in every dish. Definitely a place we’ll keep coming back.
I also tried their Peri Peri Mandi it was top notch. Everything tasted fresh and well cooked. Special mention to Chef Vadivel for the amazing food.
If you’re craving real Kerala-style food, I’d definitely recommend this place. Will be coming back for sure!
The atmosphere was warm, making it a comfortable place to dine. The staff were friendly and also there were plenty of seats available for dine-in and lots of parking space, which was really convenient.
Visited Grand Malabar Express in Cambridge three times, and every visit has been amazing – finally writing a review because they truly deserve it!
Tried Beef Kizhi Porotta, Chicken Malabar Dum Biryani, Pazhampori, Egg Puffs, and their special tea today – every item was perfect.
Extra takeout ordered to beat the Monday blues
Food here is not just food –
it’s an emotion.
Biryani, authentic Kerala snacks, and that special chai bring memories, comfort, and love. Authentic taste, consistent quality, warm hospitality, clean space, and reasonable prices – all in one!
Staff are super friendly, and the owner’s family personally ensures high standards. They really need a branch in the GTA – we’re missing real Kerala flavours there!
We will definitely visit again to try other menu items. Highly recommend!
From an authentic Malayali and a Telugu foodie who finally found a place that feels like home!
We ordered the Fish Curry Meal and Chicken Mandi. The mandi is available only in half ($26) and full portions. The taste was excellent, with flavorful rice reminiscent of authentic Kerala-style biryani. It came with delicious mayonnaise and tangy tomato chutney. The chicken was well-cooked, and the mandi overall was exceptional.
The Fish Curry Meal was equally impressive, with a rich, flavorful curry and perfectly cooked fish. The pricing is reasonable, making it a great spot for Kerala food lovers in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge (KWC) region.
A big appreciation for the consistency in taste and quality that Grand Malabar maintains. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant has ample parking. The ambiance is clean and inviting.
Highly recommended!
I ordered 3 Porotas and it was in a very bad shape like someone was learning to make them. There is a limit to stretch Porota and the one I ordered have lots of empty holes inside.
Also, last beef coconut roast that I ordered was 85% and container wasn’t full enough.
So the verdict is I won’t be not coming back here. Thank you.
