First time eating at the goodwives and boy did my husband and I leave satisfied. We started with the hot cheese dip. So good wish it came with more bread though. The fish and fries were top tier. THE best fries I have ever had in my life. I love fries so thats saying something. The fish was perfectly cooked and had a tasty breading. We also tried the petite tender medallions. The meat was cooked perfectly. Que happy food dance the entire meal. Added bonus was the vibe and decor. Love the wall paper so much!! Elizabeth was our waitress and made the experience comfortable and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a bite you won’t regret it.

This is in my top 5 favorite places in the Chippewa Valley, hands down! Incredible food quality with amazing flavor. Loved every bite. I cannot wait to return. We arrived shortly after 9 and were seated immediately. The atmosphere is simple and small but perfect.

Excellent breakfast / brunch place with lots of unique options, including Scatterbrain coffee which is a fine place in its own right
We tried specialty hash and egg en cocotte, both very delicious and filling
Special mention of my hash browns since they were thinly shredded, very crispy and delicious.

Visited here for the first time for brunch and it did not disappoint! The breakfast options available were all delicious! I was told the omelet options were great, bacon was delicious, (just a little too fatty though), pancakes were good as well! (Just make sure to ask for extra syrup!)

Visiting my son for Mother’s Day and we chose this restaurant. Having never dined here we relied on the reviews. Spot On!

Lovely experience. My ribeye was done exquisitely (MR) and came with an Italian salsa verde (chimchurri) and fresh tomatoes.. frites were nice, a bit salty for my taste . Wife has perfectly cooked cod and potatoes.
Service was great.,our reservation was waiting for us when we arrived.

This has to be in the top 3 restaurants in Eau Claire. The food definitely is fresh and scratch made and oh so delicious. My salmon was cooked to perfection and that’s a rare feat in most restaurants. Everything was seasoned perfectly as well. The chocolate pot de creme was absolutely dreamy with fresh real whipped cream on it. The whole meal was wonderful start to finish. If you are a fry bread lover of any kind try the fry bread appetizer. It’s really good. Service was excellent and our hostess went above and beyond to get us an excellent seat. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Casual enough for every day and fancy enough for a romantic dinner out. Very very good.

I love that the menu is small yet always changing. The creativity is endless! On 12/10/2025, my husband and I shared the arancini appetizer (risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella, breaded/deep fried, served with beef Bolognese sauce). Wow, so good! I could actually make this my main entrée. We also shared the savoy cabbage salad. Delicious, fresh, and crunchy! My husband’s main course, according to him, deserves more than five stars: Käsekrainer Sausage (house-made Käsekrainer Austrian style sausage served with twice baked potato in a fried potato skin with beer & mustard braised cabbage). Amazing! And, my actual main course was the Beef Stroganoff. We highly recommend The Good Wives. You’ll always find something unique on the menu. Don’t forget to try the fun cocktails, too. My new favorite is their special old-fashioned, a clean, bourbon-based, orange-forward, easy-sipping cocktail. Try it . . . and tell Katie (our awesome waitress) we said hi!!

Very weird ambience, weird music. Went to the bathroom, noticed there was no male or female bathrooms, went up and asked the lady at the bar, she said “they are just toilets.” Idk, i guess the possibility of walking in on a woman as a male here is ok ? The food was “different.” I ordered a glass of orange juice and it was a small glass, not really enough for an adult, asked for more, the waiter said it was an extra charge lol. Will not remember this place after today.
Saw the reply, yes lock the door, make sure you’re with your children too, supervise them, because again, these bathrooms have no gender signs.
