We visited this restaurant tonight and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had.
I ordered a soup clearly marked “V” on the menu, but it arrived with pieces of chicken in it. For my main course, I chose a dish described as containing chestnuts, bamboo shoots, onions, and king prawns. However, the dish that was served had no chestnuts and no bamboo shoots, and instead included several ingredients that were not listed on the menu. I had to cancel it.
In the end, I left the restaurant hungry and had to cook for myself at home. I was extremely disappointed. My husband and son also couldn’t properly enjoy their meals, as they were waiting for mine to be resolved all the time.
What made the situation worse was that no manager took responsibility or offered a proper solution. The restaurant was not busy at the time, so repeated mistakes with the same customer were especially frustrating. While occasional errors can happen during peak hours, this was not the case.
Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Food was amazing and beautifully cooked. The crispy beef was to die for. Pork Cha Sui was delicious and the Crispy pork, lovely! Looking forward to our next visit. Well done Elle!

We used to come here regularly when it was a Thai restaurant, but this is our first visit since it has become the golden dragon and it is a wonderful transformation! Beautiful Chinese New year decorations up. Very attentive staff and excellent ly prepared and delicious food. We had the Golden dragon sharing starter with a selection of classic items such as sticky ribs, spring rolls, dim sum, and more. My wife had the duck quarter and I heard the Kung Po chicken. Both were excellent. Not too busy for a Friday night but it was raining!

The website makes an impressive statement

Lovely waitress – sadly the food was not good – the quarter duck was luke warm, grey and soft – lacked any kind of crispy bits normally characteristic of this dish.
The sauce was watered down and almost tasteless.
No attempt at presentation a Singapore vegetable noodle dish looked dumped on the plate, lacked colour and vibrancy.
At least the vegetables were crisp.
The “Szechuan chicken” was not Szechuan chicken – flavourless and szechuan pepper less / thin watery “sauce” with oil drops through it. No evidence of “extensive culinary experience” here.
Having travelled, eaten and worked extensively in china, Hong Kong and Taiwan and having had some great Chinese food uk cities – I believe this sells Chinese cuisine short.

Food was great when it eventually arrived but the service was appalling. We were seated upstairs and ignored after arrival, 20 mins to get a drink, 45 mins to get starters. We were on the brink of walking out. ( And we were not the only ones.) For the second round of drinks I had to go downstairs to get attention.
Although it was a Saturday night it was not that busy. Avoid being sat upstairs at all costs!

We just had our first family meal at the new Green Dragon and it was truly lovely and will definitely return to try more of the dishes. Between the six of us we had a mix of crispy sea bass, chow mein noodles, vegetables with fried rice, and the sizzling steak – all packed with flavour and very reasonably priced. As a vegetarian I felt there was loads to pick from! If you like a good Chinese this won’t disappoint.

We know the owner Ellie as we are fond visitors of her Japanese and Thai restaurants in Hertford. We have struggled to get in to the new Chinese restaurant as it has been sooooo popular since it opened. However tonight we got lucky and snagged a table and we were not disappointed the food was exquisite the service as normal fantastic and even on Tuesday night the restaurant was full. What a legend she is to have three of the most popular restaurants in Hertford. We can’t wait to eat here again
