Great atmosphere! Great service! All staff make you feel so welcomed that it becomes a 2nd home. Tiffany does a marvelous job with everything (great personality, fast service, remembers customer orders by heart. The other bartenders (Kristie, Jennifer, Heather) do an amazing job as well & are very nice and welcoming. All of the food is simply amazing and freshly cooked. Love how they have all of the real GOATS/TEAM photos hanging on the walls. Great Business overall. Even the owners are amazing people, workers, and enjoyable! You meet a diverse population of people that are just fun to talk to and have a good time with! This restaurant just make you want to come back over & over again if you love sports, a good vibe, and being around good people that become family Definitely one of my favorite places downtown ❤️

The Goat Downtown is hands-down one of my favorite places in Greenville. The bartenders—Tiffany, Kristie, Heather, Jennifer, and Jenny—are truly amazing. They’re welcoming, attentive, and make everyone feel like a regular the second they walk in. Huge shoutout as well to Melvin, the owner, for creating such a genuine, inclusive space, and to the kitchen staff for consistently great food.
This bar is open to every culture, every kind of person, and treats every customer with respect and love. When I first moved downtown Greenville, The Goat became my safe space—a place where I felt comfortable, seen, and at home.
As for negative Google reviews: most of them honestly just reflect people who don’t understand bar culture. If you’re expecting Ritz-Carlton service at a bar & grill, downtown has plenty of other restaurants that might better fit that expectation. The Goat is exactly what it’s supposed to be—fun, welcoming, real, and full of good energy.
If you want great drinks, great people, and an even better atmosphere, this is the spot.

Stopped in for a late dinner after a baseball game at Fluor Field. Cool atmosphere with great bar food. The bartender was covering the bar and tables by herself but was very friendly and took good care of everyone. We will be back!

Great spot for chill vibes, good drinks and tasty wings. The bartenders are amazing and make sure that you’ve great service. I’ve been a regular for while and it’s definitely one of best value for your money spots in the downtown area.

The Goat is a great local sports bar with great food. The wings are smoked with a great selection of rubs and sauces. All the sandwiches and wraps are fantastic, not to mention their great apps, including the Goat Tots. Only thing better than the food is the service, Jennifer, Tiffany, Heather and Christy are an all star staff. Highly recommend, come check them out, you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I went to The Goat based on the favorable reviews we had seen. We walked in at 5:00 on a Thursday. A group of men were huddled near the door talking loudly and dropping f-bombs as we entered. Fine — it’s a bar, but not a wonderful first impression. No one greeted us, but we sat down at an open table. There were no menus available, but a sign at the table indicated that our server would bring us a food menu. The place was only moderately busy, with two women working at the bar. We sat at our table for about five minutes, during which time no one came by or noticed us or talked to us. Oh, and there was a dude passed out in the corner, so the bartenders were dealing with him. We put on our coats and left without any acknowledgment from anyone. We won’t be going back. Pitiful.

I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into The Goat — it has that classic dive-bar look, the kind of place you figure is all beer and no food. But man, was I wrong. The burgers are legitimately some of the best I’ve had around here, and the chicken sandwich is right up there with them. You can tell they’re not just phoning it in; whoever is in the kitchen actually cares.
The location is great, and the whole vibe gives off that “locals’ spot” feel like this is the bar people in the neighborhood have claimed as their own. It’s laid-back in the best way.
If I had one complaint, it’s that it’s surprisingly bright hospital level lighting when you’re expecting a dim, chill, moody dive-bar atmosphere. Doesn’t ruin anything, but it throws you off at first.
Still, the food alone makes it worth the stop. A solid spot that’s way better than it looks from the outside.

Love this place!! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed. The service is awesome, especially Tiffany, she handles the entire bar & restaurant with ease. She always has a smile on her face and is super friendly and she can make some amazing cocktails!!
