Cute nicer restaurant. Expensive. Food was good, lots of fresh options. Dessert was amazing! The whitefish was bland. Staff were kind and helpful! The restaurant is not air conditioned. Wheel chair manageable based on size of chair. Adjacent to the water.

This restaurant was beyond amazing! I was a little nervous when we first pulled in because I was a little unsure if we were in the right place, as it looks just like an old house. Well it’s beautiful when you walk in, very inviting wonderful staff, and the food…..well the food is literally to die for!
Recommend the Crab Cakes, Potato Skins(and I am not a fan of potato skins), the ribeye dinner, and the Dirty Martini was amazing as well!

My husband and I stopped by the Glenwood for dinner tonight and it was an amazing experience to say the least! The food, atmosphere and service was top notch and we would recommend to anyone looking for a five star meal!! My husband got the chicken carbonara which was seasoned perfectly and I got the blue cheese filet which was prepared excellently. We finished off with frozen key lime pie, better than you can find in the Florida keys! It was an outstanding experience, absolutely flawless! From the second we were seated to the minute we got up we couldn’t stop talking about how truly quality this restaurant is!

There’s no reason for anyone to give this place anything but 5 stars. Unless you’re some kind of Michelin snob, this is a place that harkens back to the ORIGINAL great restaurants of America. Superb service, quality food and presentation…and desserts to die for. My absolute highest rating.

Make a reservation 1 or 2 days ahead. This restaurant is always full but that is just a reflection of the great food and atmosphere. You can enjoy the view of Portage lake while eating a premium dinner. Save room for dessert because they have an array of temptations or just get a homemade pie for later. THE BEST.

We had our wedding day dinner at The Glenwood and I can’t say enough about how special they made the evening. It was a very intimate celebration, just five of us, and they set us up in a cozy private room that felt warm, welcoming, and perfect for the occasion.
The hospitality was truly 200 out of 100. Every detail was handled with care, and the staff made us feel like we were the only people in the world that night. I honestly wish we had a place like this down South…nothing compares.
The ambiance was elegant but comfortable, and the attention to the little things really hit home. From the lighting to the table settings to the way the service flowed, everything just felt thoughtful and intentional.
Shout out to our server, Arden (or Aden, I’m terrible with names!), who was absolutely wonderful the entire evening. And a heartfelt thank you to the hostess who saw our note about it being a wedding dinner and treated us with such warmth and care. it felt like she genuinely celebrated with us.
The food was incredible. Every course was delicious, but my favorite part? The dessert tray! They bring out a full tray of beautiful (fake) desserts so you can see and choose exactly what you’re in the mood for. Such a fun and charming touch.

I’ve dined here every time I am in northern Michigan over the last 20+ years and it has never disappointed. The food is amazing, especially the whitefish and I ALWAYS save room for dessert.

No secret here…. The Glenwood is excellent dining in every way.
The atmosphere has that top notch, Up North, cottage feel and is decorated elegantly. The staff are all very friendly and polite. The staff are also very well trained and dressed.
The food is very very good!
We started with crab cakes which were the best I’ve ever tasted… superb! Next we had the woodland salads, which also were top notch in taste and presentation.
Next we had our entrée . The wife had the cucumber salmon, which she said was excellent… and I had the tenderloin tips with pasta and a Blu cheese sauce. Tasted very very good!
My only slight complaint was I was expecting tenderloin tips to be bigger… more bite size. I felt they were on the small size for a restaurant of this caliber… but don’t get me wrong, the dish was excellent.
I highly highly highly recommend to treat yourself to a excellent dinner here. The chef, or chefs, are amazing with all the specials they had, and how the waitress described each entrée special, made it extremely hard for me to decide on which one to order.
They also will show a very nice display of all the desserts they offer…. bringing the tray to your table to visually see each one and how they are prepared.
Coffee was also offered at the end of the night.
I forgot to mention the vast wine list they have to offer…. I’ve never seen so many different types and brands.
If in the area, plan on a high end, comfortable atmosphere, and very well run restaurant “The Glenwood”.
