We celebrated a birthday and anniversary dinner at The Ginger Root and really enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious from start to finish.
Even though we don’t usually order dessert, we decided to try the chocolate cake for the birthday celebration, and it was excellent. The clean plate says it all.
One thing to note is the noise level. This isn’t a quiet dining spot. There’s soft rock and roll playing, and most of the noise comes from the conversations of other patrons. That said, it added to the lively atmosphere and didn’t take away from the overall experience.
Great food, a fun environment, and a memorable night. We would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back.

My wife and I celebrated Valentine’s Day at the Ginger Root for the first time. The food was amazing, the service was 1st class, and the atmosphere inside was great! We will definitely be back!

I arrived at 6:50 pm because we had a 7pm reservation for a party of 5! This was my first time visiting this place, my party raved about it so much. The first Red Flag was when they served us drinks in a styrofoam cups & stated they didn’t have any more clean glasses but I watched people come after us get glasses! We asked for a glass but they said they didn’t have any clean ones!! We ordered our food and 7:15 and it was about 8:45 before we even got our food and it was not warm at all! The flavor of the food was there but food was cold. I didn’t complain but others in my party did & they offered to comp us 25% off . I arrived before the rest of my party did and no one came to the table to see if I wanted anything to drink or needed anything. It was a black couple that made it at 6:40 before I got out the car and it was 8:45 and they still didn’t get any food, they left! I don’t blame them at all, I’m thinking I should have left as well! My first impression of them felt like I really wasn’t accepted there, I hope I’m wrong about that! They also added an extra salad on my ticket and I only had one! So I guess the discount really didn’t mean much for me. I paid my tab & I also Tipped because nothing good comes from being overcharged!

Absolutely Incredible Dining Experience!
We had an amazing meal at The Ginger Root in Samson, Alabama. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by warm, friendly staff who instantly made us feel welcome. The entire restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas—cozy, festive, and full of charm. Even the bathroom was decked out and added to the holiday cheer!
We started with the pork belly and Brussels sprouts appetizer, and wow—just wow. The pork belly was the best I’ve ever had in any restaurant. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and packed with flavor. The Brussels sprouts were just as impressive, finished with a sweet-heat glaze that was absolutely to die for.
My husband ordered the prime rib, which was incredibly tasty and cooked perfectly. I chose the lobster risotto, and it exceeded every expectation—creamy, rich, and topped with an entire lobster tail. Truly delicious.
Everything from start to finish was exceptional. If you’re anywhere near Samson, make sure you stop by The Ginger Root—you will not be disappointed!

I recently reviewed this establishment for my facebook blog: SouthrnGritsKitchen. The food was fabulous, the service was perfectly splendid, and of course who wouldn’t love the atmosphere of this place. I love the vintage chic vibe that’s portrayed at The Ginger Root, it goes hand in hand with the majority of their menu. Chef Justin has impeccable talent. Definitely worth the drive. Might I add, their potatoes are homemade can’t believe every review you read .

Fantastic meal again. We frequently choose to make the drive over to Samson from Geneva to support this great restaurant. It blows my mind how this place does not stay packed. Affordable options, fantastic food and great atmosphere. If you live within 30 miles of this place you need to go eat some great food. And go often!! My wife and I love it.
I got the burger plate and my wife got cilantro lime rice chicken. Those two dishes may sound simple, but they blew us away. It’s definitely an elevated experience and food despite being simple dishes! Highly recommend!!

I cannot begin to explain how amazing the staff and food are The Ginger Root! Mrs. Hall, Peyton, and every single one of the employees have made every celebration a truly unforgettable experience! The food is by far the most exquisite and delicious plates I have been served from a restaurant! The ambiance of the building adds the finishing touches to make any celebration or simple date night one to cherish. We all unfortunately live out of town, but we make The Ginger Root a must stop destination when we come into town!
