Loud! But it’s a popular place, and it’s easy to see why. The fact that the hostess took down the wrong number to text me when the table was ready, then flipped responsibility onto ME, saying I must have given HER the wrong number, despite the obvious accuracy problems she was having on her tablet due to the press-on nails she was sporting, was forgiven by the food: it comes out like lightning and is always good. I had the salmon bowl this time, and my boyfriend had the pesto chicken number. Potstickers to start… Yum!

Love the food and service at The Gavel Public House. When the weather is warm, theres nothing like enjoying a great drink and wonderful food outside while listening to live music. Only downside is it can be a little loud and packed on weekends. Make sure you get there early!

My husband and I live in town and occasionally visit the Gavel for convenience and usually very good food. Unfortunately, the other night when we stopped in for a quick bite to eat, I ordered the chicken pot pie, which was a special, and it lacked the quality of a special for sure. The ingredients were like a store brand can of chicken noodle soup poured under a pastry crust. The crust should not have been the highlight, but sadly that was the case. I was disappointed that a normally good place like this would try to throw together a chicken noodle soup containing low quality ingredients and disguise it as a chicken pot pie. I will be back because we normally have good meals there however I’m hoping this review is read and taken into consideration regarding the quality of food you’re putting out for premium prices.

Their beer list was fine. The service isn’t great but at least the place was pretty quiet (with the exception of the birthday being celebrated next to my table). I got the Mediterranean salmon and it was a bit overcooked and the glaze wasn’t anything special.

Ate there twice last week. Slow service, there was maybe eight people in the restaurant. It took 35-40 minutes for a grilled chicken Caesar salad and 3 tacos. The food average. The staff need to be more friendly. I won’t be back. What I’ve have seen lately like this restaurant and others everybody that works at these restaurants feel entitled to get a 25-30% tip no way, the foods too expensive and the service is lacked. I’m getting tired of paying $25 $30 for a cheeseburger. The restaurants are overrated overpriced and under deliver. So I went back today with my son you guys redeemed yourself. The tacos were great the grilled chicken Caesar salad was great. Kayla J, did a great job very hard worker she didn’t stop for a minute she kept checking on all of her customers she did an unbelievable job. Great job Kayla J. You’re the reason I’ll be back.

The food and drinks were okay. It was loud even before the live music started. It’s definitely a vibe and clearly a popular meetup for the locals. It felt like a cramped college bar to me.
We were asked to move from our original table to make room for the musicians, which wasn’t a big deal. It just wasn’t my cup of tea with how many people were on top of each other. Not a place to take date you’re trying to get to know – you won’t be able to comfortably talk. No real interest in going back, especially with the average food and above average food prices. Maybe you’ll have better luck on a better day!

This place is a bar with expanded seating and live music and that’s all fun it was a good we all had a good time and we went with our friends who come frequently.
I would recommend the calamari and the nachos as the better apps but for food we had steak tips they were about average but cooked as ordered which is excellent. We took a crab ragoon pizza to take home, pizza was better then everything we ate. I’d go back and get those apps and just pizza.
My friends (table of 4) ordered Buffalo Mac and said the Mac was just had to much buffalo sauce though my boy loved his burger. My drinks just seemed off and missing things. Service at the table was very good it was extremely busy and we didn’t want to stress the situation.
I think we will give this place another try at a different time.

A local favorite with reasonable indoor and outdoor seating. However I have never been to the lower outdoor seating that seems more spacious and with fake grass. Maybe a reserved venue area. There also bar seating inside and a bar outside. The place is not huge and can get fairly packed. Like a college bar scene than fine dining.
Food is always good here and the staff are friendly. I don’t think this is a good date place if you sit inside because it gets pretty loud and you won’t be able to hear each other or have some privacy. Maybe outside would be better for that but you’ll have to deal with the weather and bugs. Up to you. I would just bring friends and hangout and talk about how your date went.

Went to the Gavel on 01/04/2026 with a few of my co workers at 9pm, the bar tender was very rude to my friends and I, my friend and I where doing a sober year and got soda waters (we tipped for them because we didn’t want to be a pain) and our other 2 co workers got alcoholic drinks and sat next to us.
We didn’t take a sip from their drinks, just had them next to us because we were all at a small table and she continued to bring up how we need to leave because we are not 21, (she never id us and refused service to my friends who wanted drinks) even though we were just trying to have a good time with our soda waters. She kept giving dirty looks throughout the night.
The previous night (01/03/2026) Paul was amazing and we never had a single issue with him.

The food was delicious. The staff was also very nice. Most of all I have to thank the chef for customizing the taco to veggie cuz that was by far the one of the best taco I’ve ever had.
