My wife and I had a very good anniversary experience at The Garrison.

We eat earlier than most. The Garrison opens quite early – at 3pm for dinner – which allowed us to dine and make it downtown for a concert without feeling at all rushed. They also have an early happy hour that we stumbled upon.

The interior of the restaurant is dimly lit and very stylish. Though their cocktails look intriguing, we instead enjoyed a glass of delicious champagne recommended by our waitress, Maria. She provided excellent service. The timing of the courses coming out of the kitchen was perfect, and she provided extra touches to make our celebratory meal special. We felt well cared for.

We ate oysters on the half shell, steamed clams, house salad, sablefish, and fillet steak. All the food was delightful and well prepared — though the sablefish was considerably overly seasoned, making the crispy skin too salty to enjoy with the rest of the dish. Still, it was cooked perfectly, making for a luscious texture, and the croquettes were a hit. I enjoyed the touch of truffle oil in the celeriac puree — it made for an elegant dish. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The sauce was a nice complement. The mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious but perhaps a bit rich to consume in quantity.

Overall, the Garrison offers excellent service in a stylish environment and has a wealth of cocktail, champagne by the glass, and other wine options. Food is well executed and delicious. I hope to return again soon.

Went for brunch and it was phenomenal! I was skeptical when we walked in and we were the only ones there. That didn’t last for long and it soon filled in. We shared the banana bread which was reminiscent of bananas foster with candied bananas, caramel and candied nuts on top of a delicious slice of banana bread.

For mains I had the Crab Eggs Benedict. Soooo much crab, unsure if the English muffins were homemade but they were perfectly toasted with a nice crispy texture and density that stood up to the mounds of crab and an amazing hollandaise which has mustard seeds though it was a very mild mustard flavor.

My fiancée had the crab roll and again the amount of crab was over the top (literally). It was a warm crab roll in brioche. Was amazingly moist with just the right amount of aioli.

Both the breakfast potatoes and the fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned well. Highly recommend all the dishes we tried and we will be back!

Casual atmosphere paired with creative fine dining quality food. John our waiter was attentive, calm, and cool.

The atmosphere was great. Sadly, the food was overpriced for how bland it tasted. Oysters tasted bland, bread wasn’t fresh, jumbo shrimp were oddly flacid, and the burger was just ok. The crab dip was good though. One of our oysters looked fishy and when we told the waiter, his reply was “guess you’re not feeling it.”

Went here for my wedding night dinner and WOW is this place accommodating and unique.
They offered a private dinner experience with a little card commemorating the special night. The food was pre picked and came out in different timely fashions.
Very large non-alcoholic cocktails and champagne selection available.
The service was impeccable and the details are all there.
Oysters, caviar, wagyu beef, clams and a good time.

My wife and I have eaten here a few times and generally enjoy the food, but the service absolutely sucks especially for this price point.

We walked in last night and there were 3 other couples waiting to be seated ahead of us. Two people were working the front room and neither one so much as made eye contact with us or the other couples, or acknowledged our presence at all. When we were finally seated it was a good several minutes before a server came by. They were not especially busy, either.

Another example of how the service just misses, my wife got a glass of wine with a ton of sediment in the glass. OK, it happens, we’ve all poured a glass of wine like this at home. But at $17 a glass they should have caught it and either removed the sediment or poured a fresh one, not brought it over to the table for us to deal with.

Our salad was also woefully under dressed. I wonder if the kitchen just forgot to dress it or if this is how they normally serve it, but it was quite dry and badly needed some salt and acid. Our server was polite and friendly and helpful when we asked about it, but we really should not have needed to.

This place looks like a fancy restaurant and is priced like a fancy restaurant and the food really is (usually) pretty good quality, but it feels like they’re run by amateur hour hacks.

I never leave reviews but the dinner and service at The Garrison is outstanding! They have a newly expanded menu that was hard to choose from. Everything looked amazing… and it was! We got to eat in the newly remodeled back room that is absolutely stunning! The other noteworthy mention is the presentation of all of our dishes were thoughtful and very beautifully put together. Overall, love this addition to our Ballard neighborhood. Can’t wait to try brunch!

Love this place! The oysters are really fresh! We also ordered a crab roll and a wagyu patty melt. The portion is appropriate. I love the wagyu one. The beef is juicy with a slice of Swiss cheese and caramelized onions, yummy They have homemade sauce inside, not salty, not greasy either. Very balanced! The crab roll is okay for me. The crab meat is fresh but a little salty, not my type. Both dishes have fries. The fries are surprisingly good it seasoned with salt, garlic and some herbs, smells really good!

They offer variety of cocktails and champagne. Recommend try some!

The waitress seemed a bit unhappy, which made us, who specifically drove here with great anticipation for the meal, feel quite awkward. We ordered Caviar and Oysters as appetizers, but they were not served in order, which slightly diminished their flavors. Since the table was small, having four dishes served all at once felt quite crowded. However, the Crab & Caramelized Leek Dip with House Corn Chips was a perfect match with wine, and the fish was well-prepared. Over the past two months, I’ve tried many restaurants in Seattle, and I’ll continue exploring.
