Didn’t know what to expect as we walked in. Meal after Sunday message was the goal. Small but invitingly interesting. The menu consisted of sandwiches, soup, and tuna salad. The place is actually more of a pub as it had a vast beer selection. I had the Fritz, which was delicious and HUGE!! Enjoyed the meal and the experience.

Decent sandwiches, nothing super special from what my wife and I had. Courtyard is nice and relaxing. Good beer selection. Definitely not worth the 1 hour wait for food.

A great spot to grab a tasty sandwich and enjoy their courtyard patio. Nothing fancy, no sweet tea, but a unique outdoor space and a good sandwich with chips and maybe a cup of soup. Service was quick and friendly.

Very unique place. Outdoor indoor seating. You have to buy and pay for your beer at the bar counter and then you get a table number for your food or you order at the counter as it’s sandwiches only. I had a good time. It’s something to check out

Very nice sandwich shop. Located in an out of the way location close to downtown Birmingham. Excellent food and service.

Stopped in for a beer and sandwich. Kitchen was randomly closed, so settled on just the beer. Nice folks, and a great wacky atmosphere of abandoned car garage space turned into time capsule displays of antiques, curiosities, tchotchkes, and junk. Lots of outdoor space to hang out and watch people run into the very clean sliding glass door leading to the patio.

During our visit to the city, we were looking for a place to have a light meal and some drinks. This spot was recommended to us by someone in our group and it truly lived up to the hype. Our experience was fantastic – the food was delicious, the ambiance was incredible, the service was excellent, and they had a great selection of drinks. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Birmingham.

I’ve been to The Garage countless times over the last few decades. It still feels like the place it has been since the beginning. It’s an unpretentious, unique, comfortable place with a dark divey interior and the best patio in Birmingham. There are lots of odd things to see out there and a beautiful, peaceful wisteria canopy. You’ll find lots of cozy private spots for a date or large tables for a group. The cocktails are super solid and reasonably priced. There’s a decent beer selection too. All that’s enough to keep me coming back, but then there are the sandwiches, which are over the top! This time we split the Fritz, my go-to when I am starved and don’t want to bother thinking about what to order. It’s massive and packed with you know, everything. Order it and prepare to feast. The Garage is a BHM icon and I cannot recommend it strongly enough.
