Cod fish n chips from the Frying Scotsman in Beaverton, Oregon. Best I’ve ever had. This man is a master of fish and chips.

I’m super happy with this meal, not just with the amazing portions but also the taste. The chips were perfect and the batter on the fish was just as good. The coleslaw on the side had a bitter, tangy bite that paired well, plus the tartar sauce I could eat by itself. I tried some of the HP sauce with it and will most likely be purchasing a bottle online.
Perfect meal, I can’t wait for the next.

Outstanding fish and chips! Some of the best I have ever had! I got the halibut and it was absolutely worth it. The fish was cooked perfect. The batter stuck to it and was thin and crispy while the fish was still flaky and moist. Really outstanding.

I really like the halibut. It was $18.50 today for the regular size. It was super crunchy and the fish was nice and flaky. I didn’t love the chips, they are very thick and not crispy. You can add your own salt and pepper to it. It comes with small containers of what I think are coleslaw and tartar sauce, but I didn’t try either one. The guy working was pleasant to interact with. I was unsure how long the wait would be or when to know when it was ready, so I just hung around the cart and he pointed at me when it was ready. It was not a long wait and it is Saturday.

This little spot is insanely delicious. I’m so thrilled to have stumbled across this gem of an eatery. Gluten allergy kids rejoice because they have a gluten free batter option! The cod is cooked to perfection..crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The chips, coleslaw, and tarter sauce are the perfect complement to the star of the plate. The small but mighty food cart is located inside a food cartel that offers picnic tables to enjoy your freshly cooked meal. You can also take your food to-go if you wish. Next time you are craving fish n’ chips, stop by The Frying Scotsman. It will not disappoint.

Stopped by for lunch today. Tried haddock for the first time. I usually go with cod. Haddock is a denser fish. Flavor was good but it was not light and flaky to my liking. I was trying something different. Going with cod going forward. Customer service was great and they have many different types of fish options. I do recommend this place.

I’m a Scot here on vacation and being Scottish I reckon I know a thing or two about fish suppers and I can tell you for sure that was one of the best fish and chips I’ve had. I loved the fries (we call them chips btw) and the fish and was very moist with a nice crispy batter. It was fairly busy night eventually in the cartel as it was super hot so quite a few of the carts were closed so The Frying Scotsman ended up being quite busy after a slow start.

Our go-to menu item is the Haddock fish n’ chips. Walk right up to the cart, order, pay, and owner will tell you exactly how many minutes it will be ready. Condiments are self-added after the order comes out. The fried batter is absolutely perfect (golden color, satisfying crunchy bite if you eat it right away). Their curry dip also pairs well, just comfort food at its finest. Thank you for this experience!

Do NOT go here!!! The owner is HORRIBLE!!! We were the first customers of his today and said good morning to him and was responded with a stern glare. Didn’t say hello back, didn’t even ask us if what we wanted to order so we just proceeded to order. As soon as we said the first item of our order he punches it in then quickly gives us the card reader. We weren’t even finished ordering!!! The entire time he’s mumbling under his breath and not even looking at us!! Sorry for wanting to give your cart some business I guess?!? The attitude sucks so bad! Why would anyone even want to come here!!?! Such an unpleasant and rude person! In the end we ended up just walking away because I was NOT going to spend my money at a place where I was made to feel like an inconvenience. What a bad representative of the Scottish community!!

I ate mahi mahi fish n chips here 5 years ago and i just now still remember it and was talking to my husband about it. Came here just to see if they are still in business and thank goodness they are. I now live in Florida but might one day visit Portland again if i ever get the chance just to eat it again.
