Had a delicious brunch here! We arrived just before noon on a Sunday and got seated right away. I ordered the veggie omelette and added ham to it with the 7 grain sourdough bread and home fries and it was very delicious! I got a pineapple juice as well size small and was surprised how big the cup was because usually when I order pineapple juice I get it in a very small glass so I was very pleased with that! I loved the decor and vibe of the restaurant it was very cool! I would most definitely come here again! Large menu selection as well!

This is going to sound a little silly, but I was never interested in The Friendly Toast because I assumed they specialized in French toast… which is just not my go-to breakfast. Plot twist: they have a huge menu, and only one or two dishes are actually French toast (LOL). Anyway, we really liked it and will definitely be back. The Yelp waitlist is clutch; we only waited about 10–15 minutes on a Saturday, since they don’t take reservations.

When we walked in, we were immediately impressed by how spacious it is. The retro vibe is so fun, and we loved the half booths. We luckily snagged a full booth which I’m always a sucker for. It totally gave diner energy. The menu was extensive and creative, with lots of fun specials and modern twists on classics. The coffee was also really good, and they kept refilling it (service was great!).

My husband ordered the croque monsieur, which I tried and absolutely loved; I am definitely getting that next time. I had scrambled eggs over hash browns, which were tasty, but the hash browns were very similar to an appetizer we ordered, so it didn’t feel quite as exciting. The churros were unfortunately a miss for us; the texture was off and they had a slightly sour taste we didn’t love.

All in all, it’s a solid, reliable breakfast spot that we’ll happily return to. We loved how eclectic and playful it was. Portland could use more places like this!

I give this a soft 5 star review, still 5, but soft 5. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was fun and vibrant. The food was also pretty good! The portion sizes were probably just right for a normal person, but as a midwestern girl, I would have loved a little bit larger plate. Regardless the flavors hit and we all walked away very content and pleased! The prices were actually really fair and we were impressed we weren’t overcharged for things. One person in my group said that the blueberry pancake was the best one they’ve ever eaten! We didn’t get any coffees so don’t know how that is here. Overall, we’d come back!

100/10!!! Highly recommend for breakfast and brunch! The fall mimosa flight, yes you read this correctly!, was out of this world!!! Large portions, served hot and fresh! Sooo sooo good! The Portsmouth restaurant was stellar, Portland, not so much. We hit both on our trip up the coast to Acadia!

We needed a breakfast place, not just a bakery since my husband likes eggs. Friendly Toast has a hip vibe with colorful walls, funky booths, and retro decor and a menu that is creative as well as traditional. We actually went two days in a row! He has chicken & waffles one day, an omelet the next. I had avocado toast the first day and eggs Benedict today. All the food was served hot and delicious.
In addition, there are some “breakfast cocktails” – mimosas, bloody Mary and even “adult” coffees. Recommend to anyone visiting Portland or one of their other locations.

Disappointed in a place that’s supposed to specialize in Brunch. Over Easy Eggs cooked to Death. On top of being the smallest eggs I’ve ever seen. Cold Butter right out of the Cooler on your Pancakes,an absolute no no to anyone who knows how to cook. Milk $6 a Glass, the Breakfast was $19,and they can’t produce an Over Easy Egg??? Didn’t come close to living up to the reputation. I probably won’t return. Kitchen staff need to slow down and get it right.

I wanted to love this place so badly! I was recommended it by multiple people. At the end of the day though, it took nearly 20 minutes for us to get our drinks ordered, only after we had to go back to the host stand to ask about where our server was. We tried to give benefit of the doubt, but then it took another 50 minutes for the food to come out, and it was all ice cold. The home fries were undercooked as well, and my friend’s eggs were prepared wrong. The replacement eggs came out after a decent time though, I’ll give them that. I’d love to believe that it was just an off day for everyone, but it was a pretty sour experience for the price. Presentation was alright though! And the place is beautifully decorated. I’d like everyone to take this review with a grain of salt because it seems others enjoyed their experience more than us. Could just be a one off thing. I hope everyone working here has a better day!

YUM. I am not usually a big breakfast person on vacations but i’m so glad i tried this place. Our server was incredible, and she was a new employee – i’m horrible with names but she deserves a shoutout for being absolutely incredible! i had the egg roll breakfast and the cinnnamon toast crunch coffee. This place is a must if you’re in the area. We asked them to please start selling their hot sauce bc it is so yummy.

Best breakfast I’ve had in Maine since moving here a year ago! The Monte Madame was fabulous. All their food is a flavor bomb, sooo good! The atmosphere is fun and quirky and Miriam gave excellent and friendly service. I will definitely be back soon!
