The Frenchman’s Bakery quietly opens in Keene Valley

KEENE VALLEY — The Adirondacks reminds Mathieu Fialon of his home near the Basque region of France on the border of Spain.

Cannot recommend this delightful patisserie highly enough ! I would drive hours just to taste another morsel of the melt-in-your-mouth pain au raisin (pictured below) and be served by such smiling faces. A welcome addition to the Keene Valley community and an instant local gem. Will certainly be returning soon 🙂

The Frenchman’s Bakery is more than just a pit stop it’s a culinary anchor in Keene Valley. They offer warm, freshly baked baguettes and croissants, and authentic sandwiches. The welcoming, communal atmosphere comes straight from France’s village boulangeries, brought to life on Route 73.

My girlfriend and I stopped here after a hike for some coffee and pastries. Their almond croissant was exceptional, the cappuccino was outstanding, and they were able to make a perfect Cortado, even though it wasn’t listed on the menu. Highly recommend checking it out.

A Wonderful Bakery hidden in the Adirondacks in Keene Valley NY. Ham and Cheese Croissant is flaky buttery and flavorful…..Comparable to CroissantsI have had in Paris. I will definitely come back the next time I am in the Area

Five stars all around. The coffee is great, service is attentive and friendly, and the food is outstanding. We tried the croissant, ham and cheese croissant, almond croissant, all three kinds of quiche, and an apricot pastry (not all in the same visit) and all were delicious. We sat outdoors with our dog once and the next time we sat inside (without dog). The atmosphere is very pleasant.

Full disclosure : I am a Frenchman myself and I scout these types of places

Croissants and baguettes are simply excellent, so is the service, and so is the warm atmosphere (without any French attitude ). Prices are also very reasonable.

Bravo fellow Frenchman !

Had read about this place opening and stopped in while on a visit back home. This is the bread you are looking for fir when you want a true french baguette. I could not getvm enough, took a loaf to go and had a sandwich while there. Nice little place with a fun bookcase and books to donate to or take to read. Desserts looked amazing and tried the flan, which was out of this world! Do not pass by without stopping!

We had an extremely personable girl take our order. Loved our pastries and drinks. I’ll pay the prices asked as I want it to be there 5 years from now!

Second time visiting our pre made our ham Parisian was so hard I broke a tooth we ended up
Throwing 26 bucks of food in the garbage at a rest area. Bummer. Still great I’ll stick to the pastries and the coffee.

A delightful place to pick up, or sit-and-eat,delicious food. Informal and friendly, with excellent authentic French treats at reasonable prices. The croissants and pastries, the quiches, the sandwiches are all of very high quality. Same for the coffee. My favorite: the mushroom quiche, which is outstanding.

I’ve been looking for a good baguette since we returned from Paris in 2009. The search is over, and are we ever happy! Thank you, Mathieu!

Get there early. They sell out quickly. If you’re lucky, a tray of something or others will come. Buy whatever it is.

…and don’t leave without a baguette. Paris is a long way to go to get one.
