I’ve always liked TFT and have visited since it first opened. I usually come for special occasions, mostly birthdays. Most recently, I visited on 27 January to celebrate my birthday. Over the years, I feel the food has generally improved.
On this visit, I ordered the specials for both starter and main. The starter was a veal pâté. Although it contained some veal, it seemed to be made up mostly of other meats, which was acceptable, but it was quite heavy on raisins and nuts.
For the main course, I had the duck special. Unfortunately, this was disappointing. It was simply a fried duck leg that appeared overcooked, very oily, and dry.
Based on the food alone, I would rate the overall experience 3/10.

We had a voucher from Christmas 2024 from my son , which I hoped to use Christmas 2025 to celebrate my 60th. Unfortunate I had a stroke in August 25 which took away my taste, smell and appetite. I hoped my taste would return but I didn’t want to waste the voucher when I couldn’t enjoy it. I emailed Christof who quickly responded by saying he was happy to extend the voucher till March 26 . By Feb my taste was practically back to normal so we booked a table. They made us feel so special from the moment we walked in and decorated the table with 60 birthday decorations although it was obviously a belated birthday. The food and drink were exceptional all the way through. We had the tasting menu and with each course there were wines paired to go with each course.the food and drink were fantastic and so was the service all the way through we were made to feel special. We have heard about the French Table for years and were certainly not disappointed. We will definitely go back!

Thank goodness that Michelin hasn’t discovered this gem of a restaurant, because otherwise folk like me might not be able to afford it! Exceptional food, lovely service ( faultless!) and a relaxed, happy atmosphere. They totally went the extra mile for my mum’s 90th, making her feel so special with personalised menus, decorations on the table and a decorated plate and candle in her dessert. Perfection. Thank you to everyone involved for making our mother’s birthday so memorable.

Was very kindly gifted a voucher but unfortunately time lapsed due to family circumstances so I reached out to TFT not expecting for them to extend it no qualms !
That was just the start of this positive experience. We decided to book for our birthday’s and I’m so glad we did. From being greeting so handsomely at the door to being introduced to the waiting staff it was completely flawless and impeccable. To some these little details may well be overlooked but to us we were extremely balled over. We had the pleasure of being looked after by Winnie , Hannah ( who goodness knows how recited the ingredients so eloquently and precise ) and Emily. Winnie ensured that our every need was seen to and was extremely personable . Now the star of the show goes to the gifted chefs who seldom get recognition for the beautiful food they articulately put together. The food was beyond anything my palate has the pleasure of greeting ! I would definitely recommend the taster menu it’s incredible! I just want to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved for making our birthday a truly memorable one. The little touches like the confetti on the table and the personalised menu’s did not go unnoticed. With all this in mind I know this will be the start of many visits and can wholly see why this beautiful little restaurant is as popular as it is.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is simply outstanding—every dish is bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy dinner or a special celebration. And the lemon tart? Hands down, the best in the world! The perfect balance of tangy and sweet with a buttery, flaky crust—pure perfection. Highly recommend!

Amazing celebratory lunch for my mother’s 90th. It could not have been better and the way they looked after my mother was wonderful – she was quite overcome by the detail they went to, a personalised menu and beautifully decorated pudding plate with a candle. The food, the atmosphere and the service could not have been better. Our waiter was wonderful and let us eat and chat at a leisurely pace – we could have stayed longer but for the need to get trains home. It was a perfect way for myself and my sisters to celebrate our mother’s birthday. I can’t believe this place doesn’t have a Michelin star as I’ve eaten in a few places with one and French Table is up there with the best. Thank you for such a special lunch – we will be back!

Booked a table last minute at The French Table and they manage to accommodate us for a colleagues birthday , from start to finish everything was merticulous.
Great ambiance and the place is not overcrowded with many tables, they have 2 floors but the place is not too big.
I asked for extras to be added on our table and in under 30 minutes they delivered. We had personalised menues with colleagues name on it. Everything i asked for, they delivered.
Would definately visit again.
I would highly recommend if you are looking for a Michelin type of a restaurant. Tasting menus, wine paring, good food, everything is just so done to perfection, the staff are so friendly.
