Came here on our last night in Ludlow on the August bank holiday Monday and it was an absolute gem! We ordered the three course menu, the French onion soup was hearty and warming and the poached pear with Roquefort was fresh and delicious. The main courses came in very generous portions, the cassoulet was packed full of meat and beans and the ox cheek bourgignon was rich and incredibly tasty. For dessert we had the French classics – crème brulée and tarte Tatin and they were both amazing! Paired with a bottle of the Beaujolais this was by far the best meal we had during our stay in Ludlow. A special shout-out to the lad who served us (think his name was Dom?) who did an incredible job! Thank you for a lovely evening and we shall hopefully be returning very soon.

Cosy classic decor, comfy seats and good quality wine glasses. Ordered and enjoyed a half bottle of Champagne.
Starters were delicious, quite generous in size. The sauces are authentic French in style, menu is varied and authentic too.
Beautiful Lamb and Sea Bass, just delicious.
The two staff were busy and yet attentive. Several phone calls to book and people coming in to eat even though lunch was fully booked.
Seems like the place to eat in Ludlow. And we can confirm it is!

Stepping into @thefrenchpantryludlow in Ludlow, we immediately felt the quaint charm of this delightful French bistro. Our visit was a bit impromptu, but luck was on our side. After leaving our number, we were fortunate enough to secure a table for lunch. Given its limited seating, we’d strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

We stuck to traditional French dishes with Moules Marinière accompanied by French fries and crusty bread. The portion of mussels was so generous that even between the two of us, we couldn’t finish it all. The garlic cream sauce with shallots was a delight, and the crusty bread was ideal for mopping up every last drop.
Venison served with garlic potatoes and a green pepper sauce. Rich and hearty, this dish was a true winner, and the garlic potatoes were a must-try.
The French Pantry boasts a charming and quirky interior that perfectly complements the historic atmosphere of Ludlow. It’s a small, charming restaurant that offers a cozy dining experience.

What a treat. It’s a pricey restaurant but matched by the quality.
The venison loin was some of the most delicious meat I’ve had. The garlic potatoes were great too.
The cassoulet was filthy. So. Much. Meat. Really delicious.

Food was exceptional. Great little find when I am here for the weekend with my husband who absolutely loves French food. Servers were lovely and welcoming. Will definitely return to this lovely restaurant when we are in the area again.

Buzzy french restaurant even on a week day lunchtime. Food was very nice, we had the meat and cheese platter (amazing cheese), bourgignon and duck with truffle sauce. All very tasty. What was annoying was that we couldn’t leave a tip on a card, which in this day and age is a problem as most of us don’t carry cash. This must reduce the possible tips for staff considerably… Which isn’t great when you’ve had a nice meal!

Had to write a review after a pretty much perfect dinner. The food at the French Pantry was sublime – probably the best venison I’ve ever eaten and the desserts were next-level. A small and unassuming interior with a warm and relaxed atmosphere, hosted by a very charming server who made us feel very at home. Such a great spot for an evening meal if you’re staying in town – I wish we lived closer and could return sooner, but we’ve recommended it to all our nearby friends!

Such a fabulous restaurant, the food was so good we immediately made a reservation for later in the week. Seriously some of the best good we have eaten in the uk. Service impeccable and the red wine we choose was perfect. Great portions too.
