Bakeries like these are so rare and I’m so happy I found this hidden gem! There’s something in here for everyone. Highly recommend the donut and vanilla slice! I will absolutely be coming back for more, amazing and brilliant store!
From our very first conversation, Hudson was warm, generous with his time, and clearly passionate about his craft. The tasting was such a joy. Every flavour was thoughtful and beautifully balanced, which made choosing surprisingly difficult. We eventually settled on a classic pairing of vanilla and coffee, and it was perfect.
On the day, the croquembouche was a stunning centrepiece. The golden toffee caught the light and gave it such elegance, while the choux pastry was feather light and filled with silky, delicately flavoured cream. The toffee had the perfect crisp snap without being overly sweet, and every bite felt refined and indulgent.
It was not only beautiful but genuinely delicious. Our guests are still talking about it.
Choosing The French Lettuce was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we are so grateful for the care and artistry that went into creating something so memorable. Thank you!
I also collected from the Bulleen patisserie which they supply to, so it was handy for me to
Very very disappointing, not something you pick up on until you cut into the cake and realise there is probably 1 or at most 2 actual strawberries used in a whole 3-layer 8-inch cake. Completely ruins the ratio in this sort of a cake as well, nothing to break up the heavy sections of sugary custard.
Not sure if this is normal or not, if it is, then I can safely say this is the worst cake we have purchased at that price point; and if it isn’t, then there is a serious serious lack of quality control at this patisserie.
Beside that, the ladies at the actual shop were polite & great, so thank you for that at least!
I got the vanilla slice and a chocolate croissant. Vanilla slice is definitely not the best, if not the one I least like. The pastry is very thin almost non existent, while the filling is very greasy, something supposed to be light and fluffy is made buttery and rather on the heavy side.
The chocolate croissant has a thick layer of chocolate on top but it’s overly sweet without the chocolate aroma, tastes like very cheap chocolate from a 2 dollar shop. The croissant pastry itself is alright, definitely not one of the good ones in Melbourne.
Everyone’s taste is different, this is just not to my liking. Won’t buy again.
There are lots of sweet choices as well as some savoury pies to choose from. Large cheesecakes, mid ales right up to wedding cakes on offer.
There are only a few chairs and tables inside if you wanted to stay and eat but in warmer months you can sit outside and watch the world of Nicholson Street go by.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly sky. Good parking out the front.
A must visit.
