I’ve been going here for over 20 years. The customer service is always great. The owners always have a positive attitude. The ice cream is always good. But the sizes of ice cream is inconsistent. For 4.00$ I got a kiddie scoop. Usually much bigger than the picture, not that I needed more. But it was a very small serving for 4.00$ the picture is not a plastic cup but more like a small pudding cup. Other times the ice cream is more like 5oz. This is not.
Besides the price and inconsistent sizes of the ice cream, this place is a good place to be.

Reasonably priced, homey ice cream place. Cash only.
Vermont shake was good but could’ve had more maple syrup. Crunch topping on soft serve is supposedly nuts but I couldn’t identify what kind.

We stopped by The Freez recently, hoping for a quick, nostalgic Vermont dairy bar dinner—but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. Even though we were the only customers there, the food took over 15 minutes to come out. They only accept cash, and prices were surprisingly high.

My husband and I enjoy stopping by The Freeze whenever we’re in town shopping. They offer plenty of options, and the ice cream is always delicious! It’s a great little outdoor spot to relax and treat yourself.

Quality has improved dramatically with these new owners! Wilcox, Made In Vermont hard ice cream and soft serve. Darn good burger. Hand cut, homemade fries. Wish they did homemade onion rings.
Staff is always nice.
Bennington, don’t tell anyone how chill it is.

I was surprised how long we waited for our sandwiches until I tasted mine (hot pastrami). It was delicious and it was clear that a lot of care went into making the sandwich. At the price we paid, I was expecting a small side of fries or potato chips, but that wasn’t included. Prices all over Vermont are high. The variety is great.

Asked for a soft serve in a sugar cone. Got a regular cone and the young lady asked for $2 more than shown on the window menu. She said certain flavors are more expensive. What about the sugar cone? She literally brought me an empty cone. Sigh… I had a line behind me so didn’t quibble. The flavor of the soft serve was of a chemical nature and was terrible. I won’t be returning.

Tasty Freez nostalgic soft serve ice cream which started in 1950 in Joliet Illinois, i believe is one of eight left in the United States and still faithfully serving awesome small towns like Bennington in Vermont.

Spent a couple of hours here enjoying sitting by the Rail-to-Trail relaxing and eating a large & delicious plate of fish & chips. The service was very friendly, quick, and courteous. The food was cooked to order, a large portion and absolutely delicious. Wish I had kept leftovers :).

It’s a nice place to go with family. Can get a little pricey but is good food and ice cream. There is a deer park across the street where you can sit with your family and eat .
