Hands down, this is the best bar in Iowa City. Great bartenders who are friendly but don’t take crap from anyone. Pool is cheaper than at Deadwood. Shots cheaper than George’s Buffet. Plus the jukebox? You can’t lose.

Great dive. Very cozy atmosphere with a pool table and an old school jukebox. The bar has a ton of history. All around a nice place to find yourself on an Saturday night.

My husband and I had last call Called on us at 1:30 AM Our music turned off and kicked out Because as the bartender put it, we were playing the worst song of all time which was on their jukebox As an option. The song Rape Me by Nirvana. We didn’t get to hear the rest of our songs we paid for or get to finish our drinks that we had paid for. Maybe take it off your jukebox if you don’t wanna hear the song. The bartender was very rude!!!

My Great Uncle Dave’s place. It has one pool table, half a bathroom, and an old school jukebox with Portishead on it. Kurt Vonnegut loved it, and for a long time it was the Writer’s Workshop designated hangout. One of the oldest gay-owned businesses in a town with deep LGBT roots

Cozy atmosphere, nicely curated jukebox. Drinks are reasonably priced, though the beer could be colder. Order an IPA, a Guinness (both of which tolerate the temperature better), or better yet, straight whiskey. The pours are very generous.

A bar with a lot of history. Kurt Vonnegut drank here and so did people during prohibition. It’s a cool dive bar now with a decent regulation pool table. Don’t expect too much as far as drinks. They have poorly rotated beer.

Total local dive! Home of lots of people who attend the Iowa’s Writers Workshop. Decent atmosphere, a great place to meet friends, with an Eclectic crowd and a pool table, don’t drink from the tap! Plenty of bottled beer available, cash only.

On the right night this place is great. On the wrong night someone will pour a pitcher of beer on your head for liking the wrong book. Or just owning the wrong restaurant. Brad’s pretty cool. Great Jukebox.

This is called the fox head. Where Google got the name Dave nobody knows. Lol. Kind of funny. Traditional depression era bar. So called hole in the wall. Nice pool table nice jukabox. Red box car joint with four step stoop. Meant for locals on the way home and the occasional late night gloryhound.
