We stopped by The Fountain on Locust and had a really lovely experience. The ice cream is absolutely the star, but what surprised us was how well the savory dishes set it up.
The dill soup was outstanding — rich, comforting, and genuinely flavorful. We shared the roast beef sandwich and the Fountain Cuban, both satisfying and well-balanced, making it easy to save room for dessert.
For sweets, we ordered the PB sundae special and the Fruit Loop-tini — fun, indulgent, and executed with care. Playful without feeling gimmicky, and honestly just delicious.
The space is charming and nostalgic, and the service was especially friendly and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that feels celebratory without being stuffy.

Saw a review by the post dispatch on TikTok so decided to try it out before going to the Fox Theater. They did not disappoint! Cool art deco vibe, really nice helpful staff. The website allowed us to make a reservation online, but it turns out they don’t do reservations on Saturday afternoon no worries, we got sat at the bar This turned out to be the best place to sit because we got to watch them make all of the Sundays and other ice cream creations, so much for the eye to see! We shared the hummus with pita bread, My husband had the corn chowder soup. It was amazing. I snuck a taste. I had the Gouda grilled cheese and a cup of their fall harvest soup also delicious! We couldn’t stay long enough for dessert, but I did start my meal with an orange sherbet mocktail, highly recommend. This is a must try restaurant in St. Louis and it turns out it’s walkable from the Fox Theater, which was great, allowed us to park, walk down have our lunch and walk back in time for the Saturday matinee.

Went to The Fountsin before The Fox. Sat at the bar because they take reservations (we didn’t know) and the wait was over 30 mins. That’s not bad wait time for a Friday night, but we had a show to catch.
The atmosphere is like an old soda fountain restaurant. Our server/bartender Trent, was very helpful with dinner suggestions and ice cream. If you love pickles, get the pickle soup, it’s so delicious! The Cuban had such flavor and the bread was the perfect touch. The adult grilled cheese and gouda also had a fig spread which paired nicely for a sweet/salty combo.
I also got the black cherry ice cream which was the best ending to a wonderful dinner. I’ve had martinis here before and they do not disappoint. If you are in town for a college basketball game, a professional sport event or The Fox, add this to your lists of spots to try.

This restaurant is Adorable. I will visit every time I go back to St. Louis. It’s very visually pleasing, down to light fixtures. The food was so good. Great sandwiches and salads. Great portions so be careful or you won’t be able to get a dessert which is why you should go there. Everything was amazing. The ice cream was silly silly good, and the choices that you had were kind of endless, but bananas and candies pecans, sign me up. I loved this place and if I could give more stars I would! Plus boozy ice cream drinks. This place is a MUST!

My friend took me here finally and it felt like a hidden gem. They have so many drink and food options. The interior is fun and has a great vibe. Any occasion: girls night, date, or family outing. Our waiter was so friendly and made it feel like he was just hanging out with a friend. I got the pesto chicken sandwich and it was a perfect 10/10. The ice cream flight was also really good. Overall it was a great experience and I cannot believe it took me this long to come here. I will definitely be coming back.

Fun atmosphere, really good food – and the ice cream, of course, was amazing. Waitress was very kind, attentive and helpful. They have a lot of fun adult beverages but also plenty of regular ice cream options for the kids too.
It is pricey if you eat and do ice cream, but for an occasional treat I think it is worth it.

We came in for dessert about an hour before closing. We were greeted and seated immediately. Cute place inside. The food looked good. So my husband and I shared the Late Night Delight. It was fantastic and a boozy. This place has adult ice cream as well as being family friendly. I definitely would recommend this for family or couples. If it’s your birthday they will shower you with bubbles .

The Fountain on Locust has been consistently solid for us over multiple visits. Most recently, we dined with our family of five on a Tuesday evening and were seated promptly for our 7:00 pm reservation. We ordered sandwiches, soups, appetizers, and drinks, and everything was well prepared. Two in our party had soups, both made from scratch and very good. The Cuban sandwich and grilled cheese stood out.
They also do a nice job with retro and signature cocktails. The couple we tried were well made and balanced. The Art Deco interior gives the place real character without feeling gimmicky.
The real reason to come here, though, is the ice cream. The milkshakes are enormous and excellent, and the desserts have never disappointed. It’s also worth noting they offer a gluten-free menu and substitutions, which is helpful for families with mixed dietary needs. Service has always been professional and friendly. A dependable St. Louis spot that works equally well for families, dates, or visitors from out of town.

This place was amazing, and it was obvious 20 minutes after sitting down that this is a popular joint. Service was fantastic, food was great, and the soda and ice cream off the chain!! Recommend for sure getting a reservation or getting in early. We walked after a show at the Fox. Much easier than trying to drive and park. Prices are also reasonable, so even better. The polish pickle soup is so worth the try too! Highly recommend for a different experience and atmosphere!
