We had an amazing time at the Fountain Inn tonight. Sat at the bar and had four cocktails, the beef cheek (best plate, photo attached), beef tar tar, and the burger. Love the ambiance and quality of both the food + friendly service. Shout out to Zack the head bartender for giving us an off menu cocktail and several great recs around town

I feel like the Fountain Inn might be known more for its cocktails, but the food menu makes it one of the best (and currently underrated) spots to eat in D.C. I’ve visited a few times in the past several months and every time the menu has been new and exciting. Every dish is creative, elevated, perfectly balanced, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. It has easily become one of my favorite spots in D.C. The drinks are also exceptional, and the cozy, intimate vibe makes it perfect for a special night or a low key evening. The service is top-notch — everyone was so knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do. Truly a standout place that keeps getting better.

Did the zero proof flight and was not disappointed. Zach and team made the whole experience. I met almost everyone on the staff as the presented and rotated through. A very nice and informative experience, I came in for the mocktail experience and my bartender was Luke. Luke was great, friendly and engaging. He taught me a lot about the history of the bar, Prohibition and how certain drinks were made. It was a unique experience one many probably don’t know about. The food was also solid.

Had a great experience at the Fountain for a date night. We did the mocktail tasting and every single drink had a neat history that we learned. We also got back ground in the history of the bar and it’s strong ties to DC. I would highly recommend the drinks, food, and the atmosphere!

All about the atmosphere and cocktails here, such a warm and intimate vibe in this cozy single room dining and bar area. Our servers were knowledgeable and friendly, and pretty attentive without ever being overly present. Their cocktails are uniquely creative and well crafted, and if you don’t like their current offering, they can make you anything you want. My friend had the sliders and they were good, too, just not as enjoyable as our drinks. Love this place and where it sits on this upper Wisconsin stretch of Georgetown.

The Fountain Inn is so cute and such a great experience. We loved the food and the cocktail we tried was great. The whiskey selection is amazing and we got some really helpful recommendations. It was fun to try several different whiskeys and to have someone take the time to understand our preferences and make thoughtful recommendations. I would recommend this to anyone, even if they don’t like whiskey. For people who do love whiskey this is a cannot miss stop in the DC area!

Apparently, it’s got a long history as the go-to bespoke whiskey bar in this toniest of DC neighborhoods, but with new investors, The Inn has expanded to include a complete dining experience under the helm of Chef De Cuisine, Greg Heitzig.
I discovered The Fountain Inn because my friend recently moved to the neighborhood, and she recommended we try it after reading about it in The City Papers Best of DC issue. The paper got it right, and voted this chef the best for a reason. I’ve now been back 3x and I live in Potomac!
Heitzig, a Michelin rated chef (formerly of Pineapple and Pearls) creates delightful seasonal menus that pair perfectly with any of their high-end bourbons or cocktails. I didn’t know you could “pair” whiskey or bourbon with anything but overpriced chocolates, but Heitzig has shown me otherwise. Ask your waiter for this months best pairings. He’ll know whats what.
If available, do start with the snacky cheese puffs with prosciutto (it’s divine!) and don’t sleep on any of his soups, even the chilled ones. The chilled soups always somehow manage to warm every last cockle of my heart, even if my ex-boyfriend says I don’t have any left.
It’s a small speakeasy vibe…only one room really…so make a reservation before showing up, unless you like to live on the edge and hope to find a seat or two at their 4 seater bar or sit outside.
Me thinks I’ll be visiting my friend Amal over there in Georgetown a lot more before the end of the year. My soul and my spirit(s) could use it…especially if it gives me an excuse to visit The Fountain Inn.
