Driving around one night looking for a place to eat, I told my wife we needed a nice small local joint instead of the big chains. We found the Fort Grille and have been back several times since. The food is excellent. The 1st visit my wife had the prime rib and me the chicken parm. Both were incredible. The menu is diverse but not huge. Some Indiana favorites are on there and some interesting items you will want to try (Cheese grits anyone). Dessert is home made (they always have cheesecake) and large enough to share, although you will not want to.

I saw an open sign in their window today so I was compelled to stop in and confirm that they have reopened – they have! I ordered two items off the daily specials menu: fried green tomatoes and cream of mushroom soup. Both were delicious.

I would have properly rated the food had I ever received it. We we there for a few minutes and our drink order was taken. A few minutes later we received our drinks and our food order was taken. The waitress was very personable at that time. They were busy, but that is no excuse. Slightly over an hour later, after watching a few to go orders come and go, and at least two people that came in after us get their food, we are still without food. We would have brought this to someone’s attention sooner but our “personable” waitress literally would not look our way. We were out of drinks. I had drank all my water and the melted ice. We had to get up and walk over to the kitchen area and ask where our food was. It appeared the kitchen didn’t have our order, so we left. The waitress was less concerned with us and our wait and more concerned with the locals and regulars that were in there. Actually that is the feeling I got from all the employees, but who am I (clearly not a regular). I will never go back. This was our first time there, and last. So I can’t rate the food…

Best restaurant in Fortville! Had lunch with a friend and the burger and ceasar salad were great. Waitresses were fast and friendly. My buddy says dinner is even better, will have to come back some evening.

A little pricey…but oooh soo good. Not really good choices for kids but great for adults. But then my kids are extremely picky eaters, so this may not apply toyou.
