The food is a solid 4 stars, portion size is 2. Really good seafood is hard to find. This little diner does a good job serving a delicious, well prepped meal. It feels like a little 1 stat coffee diner with 4 star food. Don’t be put off by the neighborhood,, it’s worth stopping by. 3.5 overall, better than average.

I ate it so fast I didn’t get a picture got the fried combo dinner and it was great. The coating on the fried seafood is nice and thin, and crisp, not greasy. The garlic mashed potatoes are so flavorful I would drive across town to bring a tub home no joke. The veggie was zucchini (it probably rotates) and it was nice to get something that isn’t common as a veggie side. And it came with a side salad that was awesome – micro greens (no iceberg) and a flavorful marinated big slice of beet. Even the salad dressing was great (ranch), and not that oily sugary stuff that comes out of a gross bottle that a lot of restaurants use.

I’ve driven by this place countless times and never thought to try it out. Went for wife’s birthday and was blown away! We were very happy with our meals. They were wonderfully cooked, seasoned, plated, and most importantly tasted great. We enjoyed the decor and atmosphere inside as well, overall a wonderful experience. Our only problems was that we didn’t visit sooner.

This used to be my go-to for fish in St. Johns. The staff is still excellent and the food is still good but it doesn’t seem to be the same high-quality fair during the last year or so. I’m guessing this may have to do with the menu expansion, their increased popularity, or a change in the supply chain. Either way, I’d still recommend it, only with a slight caveat these days.

Really great seafood!! Highly recommend coming here. We had calamari to start (delicious) and then I had cioppino and my husband had seafood fettuccine. It was all so excellent and the seafood cooked to perfection. Still drooling even though I’m full.

Genuinely the best service we’ve had in portland in years. We got a reservation for a Friday night, our first time in and we get it (fishwife lives up to its reputation) The food was fresh, tasted amazing, presented well and time between dishes perfectly. It’s been a long time since we had this quality of dining experience and we will definitely be back.

This place is the safe landing your soul needs. And the butter n grease your heart was built for . it was a sanctuary for girl talk and come to Jesus moments about life in our 20s..also… how to procrastinate further the 20 page midterm paper no one had started . But once you smelled the fishwife settle into your clothes as you slide into seats , the world is warm , comfortable, and the food reminds you … midterms don’t mean anything in real life.

Great chowder and fish. but be sure and check the specials board, because there’s almost always a non-fish gourmet type thing. Tonight was duck confit – fantastic!

Best fried oysters ever! And if you get lucky enough to pick a night when they have sturgeon on their special, don’t pass it up, it will be the best you have ever had!
