Fisherman’s Daughter sits near the far end of Hoonah’s main stretch, just beyond where the shuttle drops off. If you’re on foot, the walk feels like a small pilgrimage, but the payoff is solid: a casual, well-run spot that knows exactly what it wants to be.
They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we wandered in for lunch and found a counter-service setup where you order at the window, grab a number, and settle in (one order window for food and another for alcoholic beverages). The menu is concise but surprisingly well-rounded considering other remote Alaska port town restaurants, balancing locally caught seafood with burgers, chicken dishes, and a few taco variations.

The staff was warm, relaxed, ready with suggestions, and clearly proud of what they serve.

Prices are on par with what you’d expect in a small, remote community that caters to the cruise crowds, but the value feels fair. If you’re lucky with the weather, the outdoor seating feels like hanging out and grilling in the back yard. If not there is a small indoor seating area

For anyone visiting Hoonah, this place is worth the trek into town.

We were in town for few days and ate here every chance we had. Special fish sandwich was so fresh and the bun was soft and the lettuce was crunchy and fried rock fish was perfect. Also loved the curried salmon wrap, salmon bites, as well as the salmon and halibut tacos. Even the French fries are consistently delicious hot and crunchy. Very kind and attentive staff. Locals eat here, chill vibe – which is always a sign of a great spot. Loved it. Thank you to owner and her team.

We finished our whale watching tour at about 10:45 and they had said this place was very good. They close between breakfast and lunch so we only waited about 15 minutes. Tables were outside and we were lucky with sunshine. Wait staff was very friendly. The Arnold Palmer with ginger was an interesting twist and tasted good, not too much ginger. Halibut tasted like it was caught that day. Salmon sandwich was just as fresh. If you are in the area it’s worth trying this place! Would definitely come back here

Beautiful location, right in town with excellent food and great service. We had the beer battered halibut and the fries and broccoli salad. All were delicious. Portions are good but not huge. Would definitely recommend if you’re in icy strait!

Well, they were out of all of their breakfast specials, and wouldn’t serve chowder early. So we had a couple beers. The fresh raspberry wheat was amazing!!!!!

I had the Salmon Taco which in the menu says it’s a sweet chili glazed Alaska silver salmon served in flower tortilla with melted cheese, cabbage jalapeño slaw, grape tomatoes, cilantro, and sour cream.

It was good but I feel like for having fresh salmon from right there in the streams the sweet chili glaze hides the taste of fresh Alaskan salmon. It might be nice to have another salmon taco option not on the sweet chili glaze side.

The service was slow but not that bad. I mean you’re in Alaska…. enjoy the scenery. The younger guy taking the orders was super friendly. One girl younger had no smiles and not that friendly. The other girl a little older than the other had smiles and was friendly.

Friendliness and smiles go a long way especially when you’re paying for a high priced meal.

A casual seafood place. I got the Mac and cheese bites and the fried salmon with the soup of the day (chowder). I also got a Reese’s milkshake and the ginger lemonade. Very tasty.

After being on a cruise for a week, my taste buds woke up with that first bite of the halibut tacos. Yum! And the broccoli salad was pretty amazing too.

Had a great meal with these guys. The fish is locally caught. It doesn’t get fresher than this. They came recommended from the local brewery, who could have easily sold us bar food. We wanted halibut tacos and the brewery told us to go here. They weren’t wrong. Will definitely be back the next time we are in town.
