Being a Catholic from Pittsburgh, I’m a sucker for a good fish fry Friday. I pass their sweet neon sign most days driving to work, so had to give them first nod for Lent! Decided on the fish chips and fries, both were great! Fish chips were hot, crunchy and flaky on the inside, pairing well with their house tartar, or just malt vinegar! Looking forward to trying the walleye or the shrimp next time. I can see how they made it 75 years; well done!

One of the best places for fresh seafood. Good batter good sauces. I get the catfish and it’s delicious. Never fishy tasting. You can tell the owner been doin this for a long time. Highly recommend.

Haven’t had a chance to catch them open. For the past few years the hours of operation aren’t as long a they used to be. Tried to place a phone order this evening and never got an answer. Took a chance and drove by, to see if they were open since I was nearby.
For starters, the prices increased again. Be ready to spend like $20+/lb. for anything on the menu. Secondly, the quality of food has gone down considerably.
I ordered a pound of each of the following: SHRIMP (was small, hard, dry, overly battered, and weird taste), FISH CHIPS (no flavor, and each fish chip was half the size it used to be), and CHICKEN NUGGETS (the size of each nugget was smaller than they used to be and dry). I also ordered Tartar sauce, BBQ sauce, and Cocktail sauce.
When it comes to Cost ($83.49) vs Quality ( ), I’m not satisfied with the quality of the food at all. Everything was nasty, smh . Not worth the trip I made, not worth the price I paid. Not to mention, I didn’t even get sides or drinks… just protein.
BRING BACK THE OLD FISH KEG!!!

Best seafood in Chicago! The Cajun catfish is to die for. Friendly staff, great food, beautiful murals, and cool history. Will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Chicago!

Classic place serving up seafood to go. The food is slightly expensive but it’s very tasty. I had shrimp and scallops, and the scallops in particular were delicious, fried to perfection. My father went here frequently when he was a child and when I’m in the area I always make a stop.

Ordered from Grubhub, delivered fast, well packaged, the food was Mississippi catfish, shrimp and hush puppies all had no flavor, all aged. It was like eating over fried concrete. Left a weird filmy aftertaste. After reading the reviews I was excited about the order, what I received was sadness and despair.

Drove out from Naperville, spent $66.40 for 2lbs of shrimp and 1/2kb of hush puppies and EVERYTHING was burnt!!! Absolutely disgusting—don’t waste your money!

Great little family owned spot. Food cooked to order and sides made from scratch. Everything was delicious. I tried the Cajun catfish nuggets and a couple chicken wings and everything was tasty and crispy. It’s awesome finding these place still exist. I’ll be back.

This is a take out spot. Seafood options, plain or breaded, sold by the pound and can be fried on the spot. Side items and Dips are available for additional prices. Not sure what all the options are.

Prices are a bit high for the QUALITY and PORTION sizes of foods put out. Catfish nuggets fell flat on taste. Also, they fried up to little crunchy breaded fish bits and pieces. The hush puppies were over fried and fried in same fish grease making them taste like old fried crunchy fish balls instead of hush puppies. Ate a few pieces of each and trashed the rest. Dissatisfied and disappointed at the fact that this is the only fried fish spot I know north. Needless to say, I will not be back.

My experience was lackluster so there isn’t much for me to recommend. Quite frankly, I’m skeptical of the recent 5 star reviews. I can assure you that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING 5 star about the Fish Keg, PeriodT. All or most of products used can be purchased at your local grocer.

*Dips that should be complimentary to the paying customer are available for a fee.
