Cozy seafood place for fish platters & sandwiches, New Orleans-style beignets & weekend breakfast.

This may seem like a hole in the wall, but y’all know those are the best! The sweetest man (maybe the owner, I’m not from Louisville) took the orders, and you can tell from vibes alone this is a community staple.
The fish (catfish and haddock) and the fries/onion rings came out hot and fresh fried. Simple dishes but executed so well for a simple and filling lunch. They accidentally gave my dad fries instead of the onions rings, and the staff gave us some beignets for free. (We planned to order some for dessert anyway!!) We will be back and recommend this to all our Lexington friends. You can’t beat service like that anymore!!

Got the catfish, fries, hush puppies, Cole slaw, fried mushrooms with horseradish and tartar sauce and jalapeño tartar sauce
The French fries were amazing and I don’t even know how to describe why other than they were fresh, hot, and had a unique crispy outer coating. I would eat here again.
Hush puppies were delicious

They can make nearly everything gluten free, and they take celiac preparations. The owner’s family member is celiac. I cannot express how thankful I am to be able to have a gluten free hush puppy! The fish is very fresh, and the french fries were perfect. The prices are also a huge bonus; it is so inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food given. Love the self serve tartar stations with lemon slices provided. The only negative is the use of styrofoam. For environmental purposes, I would love to see a different material other than styrofoam and plastic everywhere.

Food was cook perfect and freshly made, but wasn’t seasoned. Service was fast and staff was polite. Atmosphere was decently clean, quiet and could use a update.

While in Louisville, Ky before heading to Colorado, my wife and I decided to eat something filling before we left and did a google search for fish and chips. The search provided us with this restaurant that had nothing but great reviews so we decided to make a visit there. The food was quite delicious, seasoned to perfection, customer service was outstanding, the young cook/chef knew what she was doing, the boss is sauve, the server was elderly, beautiful and so so polite, the southern vibe I felt, and the blend of ethnicities gave this older and quaint restaurant an authentic lively atmosphere. Anyone that is a beignet lover, it’s here and pretty darn good! I highly recommend anyone in the area to come support this awesome family business!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Fish House! I stopped by with my husband, who is Cameroonian, to pick up our to-go order, and we were both impressed by the delicious food.
We had ordered by phone, and the process was seamless. The staff were friendly and efficient, and our order was ready for pickup exactly when promised.
I ordered the fried catfish, which was cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Mac n cheese was a bit basic, but the Cole slaw was a highlight – creamy and tangy!
My husband opted for the veggie omelet with potato cakes. We were both blown away by the flavors and textures. We ended up sharing both dishes and enjoying a little bit of everything.
But the real surprise was the beignet! We were expecting something similar to the traditional Cameroonian version, but this was more like a dessert – light, airy, and covered in powdered sugar. It was the perfect treat to take on the road.
Overall, we were impressed by the Fish House’s delicious food, generous portions, and smooth takeout process. If we’re ever back in Kentucky, this will be our go-to spot for breakfast – hands down! We can’t wait to try more of their menu items and experience their hospitality again.
10/10 -Highly recommend!

First time I been at this place, me and my husband walk in and it took forever to get waited on and we was the only one in line. I got the seafood platter and everything on the plate taste like I was just eating dough. My fish was the back end of a fish which I would never serve that to a customer. I think the best thing was the fries. My husband got the tilapia fish and he said it was good. The cola slaw was good. The plates looks beautiful but the taste was nothing good.

Such a great place!
Good beer selection. Bottle
I’m a no seed oil guy, while they use vegetable oil in the fryer, it didn’t matter.
Had the pound of cod
Baked in tons of delicious butter
So freaking good
Maybe needs a pinch of Maldon
But better less than too much
Great people

This is the best kind of home town restaurant. I ordered meals for 17 people(I called a few days ahead) and the staff was kind, the transaction was easy and the food was DELICIOUS! I cannot recommend The Fish House enough. Thank you all for taking such great care of us!
