Our experience at The Fish was nothing short of spectacular. This Houston gem delivered an unforgettable dining journey from start to finish. The sushi was simply exceptional, with each piece showcasing incredible freshness and expert preparation.
We savored a stunning surf and turf roll featuring buttery Kobe beef that melted in our mouths. The lobster puffs were light, airy, and packed with flavor, while the unagi was perfect and glazed.
To cap off an already perfect meal, we indulged in a glass of Louis XIII cognac. We were pleasantly surprised to find it offered at what must be the most reasonable price in all of Houston. This level of quality and value is a rare find.
Beyond the amazing food, the service was impeccable. The staff and management were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout our visit. And you absolutely cannot leave without trying the carrot cake—it is, without exaggeration, the best!

Wow!! I came here for a New Year’s eve dinner and had such high quality sushi for a lovely price. We had the lickety split and black widow & eel nigiri. Everything we had was amazing from the drink to the appetizers to the star of the show, the sushi! The fish was incredibly high quality and so tender and buttery like. I can’t believe I’ve never come here before. Very dreamy decor and such a great date night spot! The service was also really good and so attentive. Absolutely no misses last night, check out this spot for some high quality fish that won’t break the bank and will leave you satisfied. I’ll be back!

Apparently this place has been around for over 20 years and I somehow never noticed it. The food was fine—nothing amazing, but not bad either—and the drink selection was decent. The service was good, though, and the atmosphere at night is really nice. It’s a great spot to catch up with friends or have a relaxed, maybe even romantic, evening. LAST TUESDAY WAS MY 1ST TIME VISITING THE FISH. I WENT FOR HAPPY HOUR THE TWO DOLLARS LEMON DROPS. THE HOSTESS WAS VERY POLITE AND SMILING. IT WAS MY SERVER WASN’T VERY FRIENDLY OR HELPFUL. I HAD TO SEND BACK MY FRIES WAS COLD. MY SERVER NEVER CAME BACK TO ASKED ANYTHING. THE HOSTESS WAS DOING ALL THE WORK

The evening started off great—excellent food recommendations and a wonderful atmosphere. However, the experience took a turn when it came time to pay. A 20% automatic gratuity is added, and the staff did not have proper change. My server returned with less change than owed and did not mention the shortage. When I questioned it, I was simply told they “didn’t have any change,” which was both unprofessional and frustrating.
Had the server acknowledged the shortage upfront, it would not have been an issue. Instead, I had to identify the discrepancy myself. It’s unreasonable for a restaurant to be unprepared to provide correct change throughout the night, and it left an otherwise positive experience on a disappointing note.

Went on a Sunday after picking up a bunch of times for UE. Given its location and all day HH, I’m really surprised it wasn’t busier.
Food was great, excellent service from Kirby! I had the Rocket Combo, shrimp was delicious. The ribs were just okay. I really enjoyed the bread pudding too.

And the core of the place – the sushi – was superb. Nigiri by the piece, reasonably priced. A good collection of the standard rolls plus some custom rolls that were out of this world. The Shrimp O’licious roll is not to be missed.
The service was just as good. Fast and attentive but not intrusive. From the time we were seated to the time we finished eating was just under an hour, which is stellar for a Houston sushi restaurant. And we weren’t rushed out the door as soon as we were done, so we were able to sit and socialize for a bit.
Will definitely be back to this Midtown gem!
