What’s Happened to this Place. Few years back the fish boil was the place to be, you had to wait to get a seat. To our visit Sunday evening, bar was packed and loud, only three tables with people seated in the dining area, the entire 2 hours we were there. The hostess sat us at a huge table for 8, and just 2 of us (no biggie).
Let’s start from the time we sat down, it was approximately 10-15mins before anyone even came to the table and when the Waitress arrived she just whispered the entire time.
Knowing the fish boil was amazing in years past, AUCE fish boil and beef tenderloin tips (new on the menu). Fish was dry and appeared to be cooked the day or two before (no one fish boiling in the lot outside when we arrived). Potatoe (1) and Carrots (4) were ok.
Now onto the Beef Tenderloin Tips, Eewwww. 3 bites in, I was told I can’t eat these, they’re so chewy and the gravy tasted like it was from a bag. Garlic Mashed Potatoes were delicious, along with side salad, but salad was very wet and no dressing was given (had to ask for dressing – which was ordered).
Waitress never returned for refills and only asked about refill after check was brought to table. The Waitress was missing most the night, not sure where she was at.
Unfortunately, I think FirePit has seen it’s Glory Days in Moon’s past.
We won’t be back.

Poor man’s lobster is one of the best around. Chicken and ribs are also excellent! Cool little ice cream shop inside as well for after dinner. My only complaint is there apple and cherry pie are gross! If they would just step that up that would be most appreciated by many I’m sure.

Stopped in for lunch. Had the prime rib sandwich and the portions were huge. The sandwich was at least 8″ long. Do much deliciousness!!! I opped out of the fries and had their home made chicken noodle soup. What a great combo! Fire Pitt never disappoints.

7/30/23: We came here because someone told us they have really good sauces for their BBQ. However, we got there and waited about 10 min for our drinks. There really isn’t much for BBQ there, the drum wings were really dry, their Reuben rolls weren’t that great, and the pulled pork wasn’t dry but not much flavor. I don’t think I’ll be back here again. The best thing they had there was their chicken noodle soup which was their soup of the day. The front door has a large step that you have to be careful of when stepping out.

I truly had an amazing experience at The Fire Pitt. The owner Artie had already fired up the fish boil but came back out to accommodate us while visiting from out of town. He fired the caldron back up and gave us a story on the origins of the fish boil. I then ate the boiled fish for dinner and it was delicious and definitely taste like lobster. Allison was a great server she listened to all my requests and made sure the experience was great and closed us out quickly to get back to Milwaukee before the storm.

Casual dining and cozy bar mark this laid-back location just north of the WI/IL state border.
Pros: Conveniently located, family-friendly, plenty of parking, onsite ice cream parlor, and of course the oh-so-good fish boil.
Cons: Menu seems built around a few categories with many entrees pricey for the quality; service and food can be bland and inconsistent, and limited side and dessert choices.
Fish boil, I might add, is ALWAYS worth the wait. And this is a great place to visit in fall and winter because of its warm and hearty dining vibe. Stop by soon and enjoy!

hidden gem. This struck me as a bar to have a few drinks in but I’ve found it to be an awesome restraint to bring my girlfriend and we always have a great time with good prices and good drinks!! I noticed the owner walked around to everyone to ask how everything was too. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a surprised and something new!

If you’re not from the area, you might miss this gem. This was a random pick for lunch, and I’m so glad we chose them. I had the best BBQ pulled pork sandwich and BBQ poutine. Not good if you’re on a diet, ha ha ha, but it’s delicious. We will definitely be making it a tradition to stop on our trips. They also have an ice cream shop, but didn’t get a chance to try that. Way too full. ♥️♥️♥️

Great place to get a beer and a burger – even with a kid. They serve burgers on delicious pretzel buns. Their fries could be better but I never leave enough room to eat them all anyway. Try the fried mozzarella sticks the size of egg rolls!
