The filling station has been a part of my life for two years now. I went on a first date with the girl I hope to make my wife one day there. The biggest thing I can say about the bar is that it offers community to a neighborhood in flux; it is a place that everyone can come together and have a beer and chat – stay a minute or stay a while. Jarvis, in particular, has become more than a bartender. He is a friend and a person that I respect. Hoping and praying for a solution to moving on – if not, it will be a mistake.

Jarvis was great as both a bartender and local guide. There is a mix of regulars and road bike enthusiasts. Honestly I’m not the normal clientele but I thoroughly enjoyed the time. Great selection of beer too.

This indoor of this bar is tiny (room for 5-6 people), but has plenty of charm packed into it as a converted “antique” gas station. Loads of room outside in a pleasant urban beer garden and the converted gas station forecourt which doubles as an effective patio area – the forecourt is covered and the beer garden has good shade. There’s always a well-curated rotating draft beer selection that caters for most tastes. In the years I have been visiting, I can say that this is one of the most interesting bars in San Antonio, and an excellent respite from the Riverwalk. Dog friendly.

I ended up at this location after not being able to find a restaurant open after 11 PM so that’s a plus. Location is a little bit outside of the Riverwalk and offers a great outside ambience. Did not try any of the beers but as a beer enthusiast, they had a great selection of beers from local to statewide. I stopped for a slice of pizza (cheap) but I would not recommend it. But if you want a craft beer and chill place, stop by for sure.
+ craft beer selection
+ outside ambience

Great spot just outside of the downtown Riverwalk area. Great selection of beer and very nice owners and clientele. A must check out for beer lovers that want to support the ‘local guy’.

Small room itself, but big outdoor area and good selection of beer, wasn’t too busy for a Friday evening so it was calm and relaxed, everything I really wanted: good beer and conversation

Great tap selection. The owner Jon keeps a lot of local Texas beers on tap but will have some of the hard to find ones too… while you are drinking a beer make sure you grab a awesome sandwich next door (also Jon’s place). The also have pizza slices at the tap room if the sando place is closed.
UPDATE: As always this place does disappoint for quality and selection. Super nice people. I would be there daily if that weren’t too weird.

Great little place to have a beer. Excellent selection of brews, from IPAs, lagers, and porters or dark beers.
Chill spot to sit out and enjoy a cold one. We came in from NY, needed a chill spot to have a frosty one, and we came here. I got a t-shirt, saw some dog walkers and locals, and stared lovingly into my wife’s eyes as we sipped our beers. Great place.
