I went to The Farmhouse Restaurant on a Sunday around 2 p.m. with a group of eight. The place was packed, and since we didn’t have a reservation, we ended up sitting at the bar — I’d definitely recommend booking in advance, especially during peak hours. Parking can also be challenging when it’s busy.

I ordered the Randy Bo Bandy Burger, and since all mains come with two sides, I chose Feltis Farm Fries and Mac & Cheese. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive, which was reasonable for a party of eight. The mac & cheese was good — light, creamy, and tasted house-made. The fries were fresh but a bit too salty. As for the burger, it was okay overall, but there was so much mustard that it overpowered the beef, making it hard to taste the patty itself.

Service was decent, but communication could have been better. We were actually fine staying at the bar, and it would have been perfectly okay if they hadn’t mentioned moving us to a table. However, we were told a few times that a table would open up, yet our food arrived before that happened. At one point, two tables that could have accommodated our group became available, but we weren’t offered the option to move, and they remained empty until we left. Setting clearer expectations from the start would have helped.
The ambiance is cozy, old-fashioned, and very homey, which is definitely a highlight.

Overall, it’s a pleasant spot with a warm atmosphere, but given the pricing, I was hoping for stronger execution and smoother service. With a reservation and some refinements, it could be a better experience.

Pretty disappointing experience here for dinner. Didn’t realize Localicious was on so we had what their offer was. 1 starter 1 entree 1 side and 1 dessert for $45 – paid extra for steaks for the entrees. Hopefully we didn’t get what you would normally pay $56 for because it was totally underwhelming and basically tasteless. Presentation was also really disappointing. Piece of meat and a potato slapped on a plate. Dessert was laughable – 2 bites of a chocolate torte. If it’s too expensive to give a decent sized portion add an up charge. Service was mediocre at best, slow and not much attention paid . Should have had a check in very soon after our steaks were delivered to make sure they were cooked properly but nope. Just a very expensive lesson – not returning nor will I recommend to anyone.

The Farmhouse is our go-to in Barrie for honest, local comfort food. The rustic, cozy space feels like home, and the friendly service keeps things easy. Plates come out hearty and well-seasoned—think crispy fried chicken, stacked burgers, creamy mac, and great daily soups—plus fresh salads and sides that don’t feel like an afterthought. We love the nods to local producers and the relaxed waterfront vibe (sunset dinners are extra nice). Cocktails are solid, local beers are cold, and portions are generous without being over the top. If you’re craving warm hospitality and classic flavours done right, The Farmhouse delivers.

My fiancé and I brought our dog here and dined in for the 1st time on Sat. July 5th, 2025 after discovering that the Farmhouse is dog friendly (patio only). I called about 30 mins. prior to our arrival and was politely advised by the Hostess that we were unable to book a reservation since the outdoor patio area is a first-come first-served basis (which was totally fine). When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly at around 6:30 pm. Our female server was also so sweet and brought a bowl of water for our dog right away.

We ended up ordering the cheesy crab and lobster dip and bruschetta for our appetizers and I was genuinely impressed that they used real fresh crab and lobster for the dip. The crab and lobster did NOT taste frozen, rubbery or watery whatsoever and the tomatoes and herbs from the bruschetta were also fragrant and a delight to eat.

For our mains, my fiancé ordered the ‘Randy Bo Bandy Burger’ and I ordered the ‘8 oz Beer & Bacon Glazed Pork Loin.’ I loved the glaze and the subtle taste of beer from my pork loin. The only reason why I’m giving 4 out 5 stars for food was because my pork loin was dry. Other than that, we still loved and enjoyed our meals. Pricing seemed fair to us and the hospitality/service and overall ambience were noticeably efficient, friendly, clean, and inviting.

My wife and I went to Barrie and went to St. Mary’s Parish which was part of the Pilgrimage Doors. We live in Toronto, so before heading back we agreed on having lunch first since is was already around 1:00 PM and second it was just so hot that day that we want pass the time so don’t need to travel under heat.

We came across The Farmhouse as we were on our way to the 400. It was a very attractive place. You wont miss it. There is ample parking. We were welcomed in and escorted to our seats. The restaurant was clean and spacious.

The food was great. Farm fresh.

Stopped by for the first time In a while, and boy was I missing out!

Exactly how I remembered it, friendly staff, delicious beverages and food, and a perfect location to get in and out of. I love the fact that you also get two sides included, with so many good options its often hard to choose.

I will be returning soon, looking forward to trying their new items.

Always great service and incredible food. As someone who needs gluten-free options, I was so happy to find that nothing is compromised on flavor. We’ve been twice and can’t wait to come back!

Today was the start of Barrie Localicious where local restaurants offer a price fixed menu for a 3 course meal. Having visted here many times over the past few years it was a no brainer to come back. Started off with a Heatwave. (Malibu, lime juice, ginger syrup, pineapple juice and then an shot of Fireball) This was a very light refreshing drink. For my appetizer, Cheesy Crab and Lobster Dip with grilled pita, garlic bread and homemade potato chips. What’s not to love about crab and lobster? Word of caution, when it comes to your table, the dip is very hot! My main, I decided to upside to the 16oz Grilled AAA ribsteak with a side of the seasonal vegetable which was corn on the cob with melted butter. I ordered the steak medium rare. It was very well prepared and had a both salty and smoky flavor. It had a lovely caramelized crust on the exterior with the right amount of fat. The interior was pink and juicy while the meat fibers were tender and had a lovely chew. To finish of the evening, the dessert was warm apple crisp topped off a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzled of caramel . One thing that I noticed was the size of the portions. Having supported other local restaurants during past Localicious events, the portion sizes are a bit smaller. The whole idea is to support your local restaurants and when you try a dish, it makes you want to come back for more. I commented to our server Lindsay that these were regular sized portions. She said yes, that they are one of the few restaurant in Barrie who do this. This was a great experience! The food was amazing and topped off with great customer service by Lindsay. Thank you to The Farmhouse for a wonderful evening!

Took a date here and had an amazing experience, both the food and the staff were fantastic!

We started with the cauliflower bites, which were a great appetizer. For mains, we each got our own salad. She went with the Romaine, which leaned more toward a Caesar vibe, but either way, it was delicious. I had the Southern Shrimp (pictured first). While it only came with three shrimp, which felt a bit light, the flavors were absolutely on point.

Our server was attentive throughout—checking in often and helping us out with takeout boxes at the end. I don’t have a photo of the receipt like I usually do, but the total came to just over $70 before tip.

Very nice restaurant. Very cozy and warm feel. Our server was the best, very attentive and accommodating with onion and garlic allergies. The shrimp salad was awesome. Ceasar drink was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant.
