We had a party of 7 meet up in Abilene to eat here. Some of us drove 2 hours. The food was delelicious. However, the server was not very good and the place was not as friendly as we expected. We had to ask for everything: refills, to take our order,,etc. We also had people in our party allergic to wheat and they put croutons on their salad.

So so restaurant. Dirty carpet. Cloth napkin smelled. Restaurant had a musty odor. Soup & baked beans had an off flavor. Chops & baked potato were good.

I just wanted a salad. The first page listed a bunch of salads, so of course I picked the one with crispy chicken. I made a point to ask if it was more than just lettuce cheese and chicken, the waitress assured me it had ‘everything’ on it. For the record, everything usually includes more than 1/8th of a tomato, 3/4 of a mushroom, 1 small piece of broccoli and a miniscule bit of cauliflower. But everything does include a disurbing amount of bacos. Not real bacon, Bacos.

The brisket was also had. It was ok, unless you’ve had the brisket from Sam’s club, then you’ll be disappointed. Luckily we have no reason to go back.

Oh, and they have Skittles for sale in to go sauce containers… Not sure how hygenic that is.

I would like to rate this restaurant higher, because I have been coming here for many years and have always had a good experience. Overall, the staffing seemed adequate and the service was acceptable. The location still has the same homey feel which offers something unique compared to a chain restaurant. However, on this visit the overall quality of the food left a little to be desired. I ordered the prime rib special cooked medium and was disappointed as the meat was overcooked and quite tough. It seemed as though it had been cooked previously and reheated in the microwave. My wife ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs. The meat was tender and well-flavored, but was almost cool and again had the feel of having been reheated not quite fully. We ordered a child’s plate for our two small boys to share, and the size of the portion was much smaller than what I remember on my previous visits to Mr K’s Farmhouse. The highlight of the meal was the cheesecake we ordered for dessert. It was enjoyed by all!

This place was spectacular! The food was great- the kids devoured their burgers, my wife said her salad was “fan-triple-tastic”, and I had the best chicken fried steak I’ve had in years. The service was incredible, and they were even willing to stay open while we were the only ones there. Overall, great experience- we will be back!

I would really like to rate this place higher because it has a lot of good features. The location is nice, right at the edge of town. The ambience of being in an old farmhouse is interesting. The service was good enough, but after all is said and done you go to a restaurant for the food and the food simply wasn’t very good. I had baked fettuccine which was only average. My wife had chicken fried chicken and it was basically inedible. We sent it back and tried the chicken fried steak and it was just slightly better. I don’t think I will ever go here again but I hope some people do because I really think my experience was not the norm. Unfortunately for my visit a two star rating is really generous.

I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but I can’t let this pass. I have been a regular customer here for many, many years. Food and service were always great, which is why I kept returning. I recently ordered several to go meals. They were packaged horribly. No napkins or silverware and the fried food ( which was way overcooked) had melted through the styrofoam container. The baked potatoes which were ordered “loaded” had cheese and bacon. No butter or sour cream. Very dry. The salads were hot and wilted, like they had been under a heat lamp. I would like to think that someone who owns so many restaurants would have better quality control.
