We had a party of 7 meet up in Abilene to eat here. Some of us drove 2 hours. The food was delelicious. However, the server was not very good and the place was not as friendly as we expected. We had to ask for everything: refills, to take our order,,etc. We also had people in our party allergic to wheat and they put croutons on their salad.

I would like to rate this restaurant higher, because I have been coming here for many years and have always had a good experience. Overall, the staffing seemed adequate and the service was acceptable. The location still has the same homey feel which offers something unique compared to a chain restaurant. However, on this visit the overall quality of the food left a little to be desired. I ordered the prime rib special cooked medium and was disappointed as the meat was overcooked and quite tough. It seemed as though it had been cooked previously and reheated in the microwave. My wife ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs. The meat was tender and well-flavored, but was almost cool and again had the feel of having been reheated not quite fully. We ordered a child’s plate for our two small boys to share, and the size of the portion was much smaller than what I remember on my previous visits to Mr K’s Farmhouse. The highlight of the meal was the cheesecake we ordered for dessert. It was enjoyed by all!

My wife and I have been numerous times under the old ownership. Most everything was good. Service was always great, food was good but really nothing outstanding, but overall no complaints. Their house dressing, which they used to sell by the bottle (not sure if they still do), is amazing.

This place was spectacular! The food was great- the kids devoured their burgers, my wife said her salad was “fan-triple-tastic”, and I had the best chicken fried steak I’ve had in years. The service was incredible, and they were even willing to stay open while we were the only ones there. Overall, great experience- we will be back!

This place has the perfect old time, down home feeling. The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable about Abilene’s history. They have some great stories and make you feel very welcome. We had the cat fish and WOW was it breaded perfectly! Their house dressing, a creamy Italian is very flavorful without being over herbed. The fries were perfect too. I highly recommend taking desert to go if you don’t have enough room after dinner. Their homemade pies, cheesecake and cakes are Amazing!

Charming farm house that has been turned into an amazing restaurant! The food has that old country-style home-cooked taste! To say the least it is delicious! While you’re there treat yourself to a slice of their pie that is Heavenly! It reminds me of the homemade pies at my great grandma used to make on the farm. The service there is unbeatable!
