The Farfalle Bistro is a unique dining experience. The owner, Carrie Arnone, was raised in an Italian family with deep roots in Kansas City. Her love of food came from watching her grandmother prepare course after course of food for the traditional “Sunday Dinner”. The extended family would gather and spend the better part of the day around the table eating, drinking and sharing memories as well as creating new ones. In the Italian culture, connecting over food around the table with family and friends is what it is all about. Just as our sign says “Amici e famiglia, vengono a tavola e mangiare” which translates to “Friends and family, come to the table and eat”.

Farfalle Bistro in downtown Lee’s Summit is such a gem! The pasta was so fresh and absolutely delectable~the bold flavors were out of this world. I had the lemon basil pasta, and it was incredible. My girlfriends and I shared two amazing appetizers~the fresh tomato basil bruschetta and the fried burrata~and both were fantastic!
The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, which made it the perfect spot for us to relax, enjoy, and have some great conversations over our meal. Sharing delicious, comforting food with great friends is what it’s all about, and Farfalle delivered that experience perfectly. I can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

We weren’t really aware of this restaurant, made a reservation before the holidays on a whim & were pleasantly surprised!!! The music was charming & soft, which was nice because we could hear each other as well as the mean spirited diners next to us – no fault of the restaurant. It was a good reminder that church folk aren’t always so churchy. Other diners aside, yes, it’s a small place but that really adds to the ambiance. It felt like we stumbled across something very special & got lucky to have a reservation. We just loved it!! The waitress filled us in on all the details from the menu to the cook & how the restaurant came about. Between the delicious family recipes & enthusiastic staff, I half expected Remy to humbly walk out & take bow. My only regret was not getting the Playlist. Favorite Italian restaurant in Lee’s Summit!!

My first experience dining at the Farfalle Bistro and my expectations were exceeded. I brought family visiting out of town because of the wonderful things I heard. The atmosphere is spectacular, along with the food and service. Alexia made us the most delicious mocktail and a limoncello martini with house made limoncello. Will most definitely be back!

This was mine and my fiance’s first time trying Farfellas. Abbygale and Kat were awesome. We didn’t have a reservation but got promptly seated. They were both very knowledgeable of the menu and had great recommendations. Everything was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back to try more!

Omg!! We tried the Farafelle in Sugo with Meatballs. Absolutely so delicious!! Also, got the chefs special chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes. So yummy!! And the chocolate dipped cannoli was the best I’ve had.

Everything about this place is fantastic! This is definitely one of the best restaurants in the KC area. I regrettably had to cancel my reservation, so I went ahead and ordered take out anyway, because I was so excited to try it. The atmosphere is like you are being served in someone’s home with care. I’m so glad I got to see it. My food was delicious! Salad was lovely, pasta with vodka cream sauce and meatballs were great! The sauce was very authentic; so a little spicey. This is not Olive Garden, people. Bruschetta was delicious, and the cannoli…holy cannoli! You must order the cannoli! The pastry is light and crisp and the filling is delicious. I don’t even like cannoli, but I thought I would try their’s. It is a new favorite! I can’t wait to go back and enjoy the ambiance!!

Lee’s Summit hidden gem. Small locally owned restaurant. second time there; consistently amazing service and food. We had salmon, chicken, Parmesan, and lemon basil pasta. Every single person loved their dish and we could not believe how flavorful the red sauce was with the chicken parm. Atmosphere was very conducive to conversation but music loud enough that you weren’t hearing other patrons conversations.

When you want something different from the ordinary run of the mill, something that isn’t a boring chain. When you want to go somewhere that you know the food is freshly made that day, the pasta is cooked to order, the sauces are made fresh, the chicken is seasoned just perfect, and the cannoli are stuffed fresh when you order. When your Boulevard beer is served cold a d you have the best chocolate Strawberry martini you could ever imagine made with strawberry puree. When you want some place that feels like Grandma’s house, warm and full of comfort, a place that just feels welcoming, and feels like home, then come here, come to The Farfalle Bistro, these ladies will take great care of you.
My family and I decided to find a place different than our normal go to, so we came here and we certainly will be coming back. We love how the menu is simple yet large enough to offer choices for all, and how it changes, to give a variety of taste.
We only had one downfall that my daughter and I didn’t care for, and that would be the salad dressing was just a tad bit too spicy for us, my husband loved it. It would be nice if there were an additional option.
My daughter LOVED the sugo and the meatball, she said her meal was “a bowl of happiness” a 9 on a scale of 10!
My husband had the chicken spiedini with Mashed potatoes and asparagus, saying it was excellent, with flavorful tender chicken and incredibly seasoned asparagus.
I had the farfalle in pesto cream sauce with prosciutto and peas, the chef kindly added the pesto to the garlic cream base for me, knowing I am a pesto lover and it was beyond INCREDIBLE.
The cost was very reasonable as well, for the environment, great service, home cooked to order food, and the portion size, well worth the cost and value!
We left with such full bellies that our cannolis will be our dessert once we get home, and I am sure they will be just as amazing as everything else. Thank you to the amazing staff, everything was beyond wonderful, we will be back, and we will be spreading the word of your amazing restaurant to our friends and family.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I do not often feel strongly enough about an establishment to even leave a review, let alone one this bad, but everything about our experience was 0 stars. Before going we were given a good impression of this place because all the recent reviews were 5 stars and when we contacted them to make a reservation the initial time we asked for was busy, which gave the impression it was in high demand. However, when we walked in we were immediately confused by the cheap atmosphere of metal chairs and tables all crammed together in a small space. About half of the restaurant was empty. Once we were seated we noticed that there were signs hanging up and a note at the bottom of the menu that said there was 90 minute time limit and if you exceeded it an extra 20% was added to your bill. We did not even order entrees until we had been seated for 20 minutes. Our interactions with the waitress were brief, impersonable, and few and far between. One of us ordered a cocktail, otherwise all we had was water. There were no options to drink besides water or cocktails/mocktails. Our entrees came with salads which only had 2 options for dressing. Our entrees were just pasta and sauce… No meat- it’s at least 7 dollars extra to add meat. My entree was 24 dollars for just bow tie pasta and sauce, and 7 extra dollars for an Italian sausage that wasn’t even cut up. The pasta was overcooked. My boyfriend ordered their signature pasta dish with chicken (20 dollars plus 7 to add the chicken) and he said the chicken was so dry and unseasoned. The pasta sauces were nothing interesting. I kept thinking to myself I could’ve made the same meal at home for less than 10 dollars and it would have been better and I would have had 6 times as much food. We overheard another table request to share a plate of food and they were told there was an additional charge of 20 dollars to share a plate. I saw another table next to us order an appetizer where each person at the table got one crostini, and that appetizer cost 12 dollars. I was only planning on tipping the waitress 15% because we barely saw or interacted with her even though we were one of 4 tables in the entire place, but the lowest tip option was 20% (i thought I was being generous with 15, and I only tip that low for bad service). Plus, there was a note on the receipt that said if you don’t leave a tip they automatically add the highest percentage tip to your bill. On top of all the issues with the food and the service, we could not hear each other or have a conversation hardly at all because it was such a small place and it was too loud with the music and all the other tables right next to you. There’s no waiting area, so a party of 6 surrounded our table standing around waiting for their table to be ready (not their fault of course). Also, this establishment passes their liquor tax onto their customers. So after all that, one drink, and 2 entrees later, plus way too big of a tip for sub-par service: the bill was 90 dollars. Needless to say we were livid walking out of that restaurant. Worst dining experience we’ve ever had. I don’t understand how this place has such good reviews on Google. Waste of time and money. Fazzolis has better service and food than this place.
