The Director of Sales, Alyssa Abudayyeh was professional, communicative, and engaging from the start, and without her, the full experience would not have been as top notch. From the tasting, to the planning of the seating with our hefty guest count, and my larger than life visions for the day of, the team at The Exchange executed a 10/10 experience.
Every room was beaming with smiling guests, mouth watering food (especially the bread!) and signature espresso martinis that are still the talk of the town. I can’t brag enough about The Exchange, and I know brides and grooms to come will have a delightful experience, as well! We were even featured in Modern Luxury Chicago Wedding Spring 2026 Edition!
The historic and architecturally spectacular setting of The Exchange, located in Daniel Burnham’s Railway Exchange building on Michigan Avenue, provided the perfect backdrop for such a significant celebration. The event spaces were beautifully utilized, and every aspect of the decor and ambiance was flawless.
We cannot praise the staff enough. The team of event professionals at The Exchange demonstrated exceptional service and a genuine passion for making our daughter’s special day unforgettable. Their expertise and dedication were evident in every detail, ensuring everything ran smoothly and beautifully. They truly went above and beyond to bring our vision to life.
The culinary offerings were also outstanding, and our guests were thoroughly impressed.
If you are looking for an event venue in downtown Chicago that combines breathtaking beauty with an experienced and dedicated team, look no further than The Exchange. They delivered an absolutely magical Quinceañera for our daughter, and we are incredibly grateful for their hard work and professionalism.
The vegan curry I had was pretty good. I enjoy more spices and a bit more flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly and overall the meal was very high quality.
From the moment we arrived after the church ceremony, the evening unfolded seamlessly. The service was impeccable. Alyssa listened with intention, understood our vision, and executed every detail without missing a beat. She and her team anticipated needs before we could voice them, allowing us to remain fully present and savor every moment. We felt genuinely cared for throughout the entire evening — a level of hospitality that went above and beyond anything we expected.
The room reveal brought us to tears. It was breathtaking — elegant, romantic, and exactly what a mother dreams of for her daughter’s wedding day. We were also delighted to learn we were the first wedding to serve soup as the first course, and it was a resounding success — guests are still talking about how delicious it was. The night flew by far too quickly, and we only wish we could relive it all over again.
We wholeheartedly recommend The Exchange to any couple seeking a stunning venue, exceptional service, and a truly elevated wedding experience. It was everything we hoped for and more!
Of all the vendors I worked with throughout the wedding planning process, Alyssa was the most organized. She was quick to respond to everything, very accommodating and took care to make sure that everything about our day was exactly how we envisioned it. She is incredibly kind and I felt she was genuinely just as invested in our wedding day as we were as a couple, and she made everything so, so easy. Being my own wedding planner, I felt super confident in how things would turn out knowing that she was the person I’d be working with. They even made us a custom “Just Married” pizza!
The staff was great the night of the wedding as well – the drinks were amazing and the service was top notch.
If I could get married again, I’d do it all over at The Exchange.
And even if you aren’t looking to plan an event and are just looking for a great place to eat, definitely go here! We’ve eaten here a bunch leading up to the wedding and we’ve had great service and excellent food every time we’ve been. We will definitely be back. 🙂
Venue – iconic and historic just like your event will be.
Venue staff, specifically the event director, Alyssa – the best! We sent her approximately a million questions over the last year and she answered every one of them in a timely manner and in great detail. Even when she was in the depths of an event heavy weekend or going out of town, she at least let us know she received our email and would get back to us ASAP. The communication was unmatched, especially after our experience reaching out to other venues and never hearing back!
On the day of our wedding, we also had the pleasure of meeting Christian, who was SO helpful with a lot of our last minute questions and requests!
The food – great! We had multiple of our pickiest/most particular friends and family call us to rave about the food after. We did the filet, chicken, & salmon for reference.
Experience – 10/10! All around, we felt so comfortable to reach out when we had a question which sounds so small but was actually huge. We visited the venue multiple times to help us envision the layout and show people the space without feeling like we were a nuisance – another win. Also, the way the staff matched and exceeded our expectations was so refreshing after all the work we put into planning. We requested a layout they hadn’t done before and they made it happen no problem.
In summary, the aesthetics, communication, flexibility, and overall professionalism made wedding planning seem easy and we had the best day. We can’t recommend The Exchange enough!
I want to like this place—I really do. But my first visit felt like accidentally crashing a vampire book club.
We walked in hoping for a lovely time in the atrium, but alas, it was closed for a private party. Fine. I get it. People like exclusivity. So we were ushered indoors to what I can only describe as the “Gothic Mustiness Lounge.” It was dark. It was damp. It felt like the setting of a moody indie film where someone gets emotionally betrayed over a charcuterie board.
Undeterred (okay, mildly deterred), we ordered light: roasted Brussels sprouts, a salad, and some tea. The sprouts came in hot, metaphorically and literally—crispy little flavor bombs. The salad? It was fine. It existed. The tea? It was… there. Let’s just say, no one in our party was inspired to start a cocktail-fueled Yelp poetry slam.
We ate fast and fled faster, possibly to escape a ghost. But hey—sprouts were good. So I might go back… with garlic, just in case.
Okay I exaggerate a little!!
Alyssa and staff were so great to work with and helped to make the wedding process smooth. We could not recommend The Exchange enough!
