Service: We were seated quickly, but that was the only thing that was quick. No one came to our table for a while. There seemed to be only two servers for brunch and one was manning the bar and taking orders at the same time so it took a while for someone to acknowledge our table. Our servers was extremely nice but he seemed overwhelmed.
Food: We both got the espresso martini flights anticipating to get a full glass. Instead the little glasses were half filled with the martini mixture and half with whipped cream. $25 pp for half filled cups fills like a rip off. The empanadas were HUGE, but they only had meat in them. In the description it states that the “ALL EMPANADAS INCLUDE CHEESE AND
OUR AUTHENTIC FILLING SAUTÉED IN
PEPPERS, ONIONS, GARLIC & CILANTRO.” We ordered six empanadas and only one had cheese included. The others were just meat. We also got the chips and salsa and the lemon rice. The salsa was Tostinos (you could tell by the taste and the presentation) and the lemon rice was bland.
Overall, for the amount of money we spent, we expected a lot more. We probably won’t be back.
We ordered the combo platter that comes with 6 different empanadas a choice of 2 sides and 2 cupcakes for dessert..for $60.99 I got a Modelo Mom got a Coke.. Somehow the bill ended up being $90+
Anyway the waiter brought our chips and salsa out first then the nadas and our second side of plantains. The chips and salsa were fair.. we were expecting more of a tortilla style of chip though and the salsa had a marinara sauce taste. The empanadas were delicious but could have been fried slightly less they were fried very hard.
My problem was mainly about how we were treated our server never came back to ask how the food was ask if we needed refills or anything. When he finally came back he said he was preoccupied with setting up that event, so he knew he wasn’t attentive to us, when I asked for the boxes and check the seemed to struggle with proving everything all at once which left me so get up go to the bar to get the physical check, that’s when I realized we didn’t get the cupcakes we were looking forward to.. waiter said he gave us two slices of cake for the troubles but I told him we didn’t want the cake we preferred the cupcakes to which he said the cake was better but it wasn’t it was coconut (we both don’t like that flavor) Waiter asked if we would be returning I told him likely it due to lack of interest the restaurant seemed to have in us dining in.
***I will come back to update this post later to recheck my receipt because I’m not understanding that price of the final bill..
