Made reservations for brunch, but wasn’t needed. The place was rather quiet on Sat, but it was also freezing outside.

Got a cozy window seating and loved the ambiance thanks to their floral interiors along with holiday ligthing right next to our table. Noise levels on the quiet side and easy to have conversations.

They have a decent kids menu, and the Chicken Fingers ($10) were perfect for our little one. Huevos Rancheros ($19), and Vegetarian Omelette ($19) which was served with home fries and tossed salad was a good portion. Kimbo Coffee ($4.25) was actually pretty good although would’ve loved it to be warmer. Refills were slow to come. Food was inline with our expectations.

Food arrived within 8-10 mins of placing our order, so yeah, really quick! Our initial server/waiter wasn’t that attentive but their crew members were definitely more alert.

Overall, pretty decent experience.

I’ve been a patron of The Ellington since the opening in 2021. I’ve tried every meal service – from brunch to dinner – and really enjoyed having it as a neighborhood spot. Unfortunately, it’s taken a significant downturn based on my meal yesterday. If I am going to justify paying over $30 dollars for a chicken caesar salad, I expect it to be flavorful and well appointed. It was neither of those things. The restaurant has always been warm and cozy, however last night I found myself eating in my winter coat due to the lack of heat. The waitress was lovely enough, but the staff all seemed to move slow. It took over 20 minutes to get a cold appetizer out to us to start our meal. Then entrees came and I couldn’t help but think “why am I spending my money on this?”. The food was bland and flavorless – my salad was overly dressed, and the lettuce barely cut up. They are always generous with their chicken portion, but 1/2 of it was rough and rubbery. Their basket of fries felt like whatever was left of their last bag – all crumbs and overly fried. I’ve had better meals at an airport.

Unfortunately, I think I’ve seen the last of this place. It was always a warm, cozy and reliable place for a solid meal in the neighborhood….but now it feels like something you’d find in midtown – made up of overly priced, mediocre food.

We come here often, and it never disappoints. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic. The restaurant is spacious and welcoming. We’re never hurried thru our meals. There’s a bar area, outdoor seating and large inside dining areas. Tables are well spaced, lots of room for accessibility♿️
They have a great menu – this time we had “snacks” – cauliflower, calamari and guacamole. Lots of healthy options. They also had some very pretty drinks. Make sure you check out the delightful little drink menu/booklet!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Ellington. The decor has an Ernest Hemingway vibe to it that says come in, relax, have a great meal. And I did, as you can see from my empty plate, haha. I ordered the fish & chips. Prepared perfectly and simply delicious! The service was a little slow to take our order, but our meal came out pretty quickly. The servers were very friendly. I would highly recommend The Ellington. Nice ambience, good food, friendly service and easy on the wallet. Treat yourself!

We were a celebrating birthday, party of 11 or so. All age ranges. Had a wonderful time and were served by a charming waitress and efficient help in clearing plates etc. We had a major part of the menu from drinks, appetizers, mains and desserts. No complaints from anyone.

And they make a mean Manhattan!!

We have been in NYC on vacation 6 days and the service provided by Nahid N. Was some of the the finest in the city. Deticated to his job, always attentive and going above and beyond what his job requires. We were treated kindly by the hostess, the food was delivered promptly with our expertly prepared drinks. One of the best burgers in the city in a more than beautiful atmosphere. Thank you all at The Ellington.

We had our Thanksgiving at The Ellington this year. It was a terrific experience! Turkey was moist and all the sides were well seasoned like a home-cooked, meal. Despite being sold out, service was impeccable. They give the same care to their regular menu, in a beautiful old restaurant setting. The Ellington is locally owned-I recommend dropping in for an honest meal or for Happy Hour, or both!

Had a pretty awful experience here for dinner starting with the host greeting our party. The older gentleman talked down to our group before seating us. That should have been our red flag to walk away but we were so hungry we stayed.

The restaurant seemed to be understaffed because our the waiter was covering many tables service was slow and we were able to get more water or drinks. Our water carafe was also dirty which was gross

The food was just alright, the pizza ordered was burnt on the corners and the burgers were good. The fries were subpar

We just had the best dinner at The Ellington on Broadway last night with our two boys (10 and 12) and I’m still smiling about it. The vibe is so cozy and fun, not stuffy at all, which is huge with the kids. The food was legitimately delicious.

The real highlight though was Glenda, the owner. She came by our table, asked the kids their names, and just made us feel like we belonged there. Super warm, zero pretension, you can tell she actually loves what she does.

If you’re anywhere near the Upper West Side, do yourself a favor and go. We’re already planning our next visit! Thanks Glenda!!

Very nice atmosphere, a bit on the louder side, so conversations require a bit of effort.

Calamari appetizer was excellent, tender and crispy.

Ordered the seafood pasta special, but waiter didn’t hear me correctly and served fish risotto dish instead. It looked excellent so I opted to keep it. It was great.

Dessert, unfortunately didn’t work out. The lava cake looked great, but first bite tasted like burnt dough. Second bite confirmed the entire thing was burnt all through the bottom, enough that others at the table could smell it. Waiter apologized and removed the cost.

Aside from the dessert, everything was great for everyone at the table.
