Went here prior to seeing a show. We arrived in plenty of time to be served and eat, but were told many people show up later and it gets very crowded. The chicken is great, had the spoonbread, delicious and the collard greens were great, wish they had vinegar on the table to add to taste.

Fantastic food!

It was our first time at The Eagle, and will not be our last. You can taste the quality of the food. We had the Fried Chicken BLT, and the Carolina Braised Pork. The Carolina Braised pork had an essence of vinegar that was surprising while satisfying. The Fried Chicken BLT had a slight kick of heat that was perfect with each ingredient layered in a neat and managed way.

The menu variety is leaner. The Eagle seems to prioritize quality over quantity, and it shows! Nice work.

The focal point of The Eagle is the large bar when you walk in. The atmosphere gives more of a sports bar vibe with televisions all around the bar. This provides a louder environment. It was difficult to hear my partner sitting beside me, on a Thursday evening when there was plenty of available seating.

The restaurant was clean and well kept.

Overall The Eagle offers tremendous value for those seeking southern inspired foods. I would very much recommend giving them a try. We will be back!

Fried Chicken was on par. Ordered the 1/4 Dark expecting the usual Thigh and Leg…. Surprise it was two legs and a thigh. Skin was crispy and the honey served with it made it better. The spoonbread was beyond words good. Definitely will be back.

Good food! Loved the herb grilled sandwich!! It was so so juicy! Didn’t like the service as much as I wanted to because there was no staff to greet at the entrance. I had to ask the bartender if I can sit anywhere and they helped. Once I placed the order, I got it 30-40 minutes after. My server didn’t ask if I needed anything and disappeared. Another server did ask if things were ok and I asked him for some hot sauce. It’s alright, things happen sometimes but I would rate it as a overall happy enjoyable experience because the food was literally yummy. Will be back!

Walking from the convention center was less than 5 minutes. Sat at the bar because I didn’t have a reservation. Bartenders were decent and food was tasty. I saw someone order the nachos…l wish I had as well.

We stopped in before a Pirates game on a Monday evening. We were seated right away inside and got to order quickly. It was mac&cheese as an appetizer, and then we shared the half chicken, fries, and biscuits. I also ordered the Blackberry Lemonade cocktail. They were amazing in accommodating my request to substitute the lemonade for soda water. My lower calorie and less sweet version hit the spot! It was light, bright, and was just what I needed after all the walking we did all day. Thank you to the whole staff for a great meal in a great city!

We stopped in around midday for a quick bite and shared the shrimp and grits as a starter. The portion was solid, and the dish itself was well done — though a couple more shrimp wouldn’t have hurt. No real complaints otherwise.

My pork meat burger, on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. The meat was slightly dry and felt a bit light in quantity — as if someone got cautious with the portioning. My mom’s herby chicken burger, however, was a standout. Packed with flavor and cooked just right, it definitely hit the spot.

All in all, if you’re looking for a casual lunch, you could do a lot worse. But there’s room for improvement — especially when it comes to consistency. The value for money? Let’s call it fair.

Let me tell you about how this was the best experience for my husband and I…ever…anywhere:

This was our first time at The Eagle. We had some time to kill before heading to The Killers of Kill Tony at the Benedum, so we thought we could grab a bite to eat and a few drinks.

The Eagle was SLAMMED, but so was everything everywhere. Figuring that there was an hour and a half to relax, we grabbed a spot at the bar and sat down. Our drinks came very quickly and they were divine; I had the Prosecco Punch and my husband the Blackberry Lemonade. After a few moments of deliberation, we decided to order the hushpuppies, fries, and two bowls of the burnt ends mac and cheese. The order goes in with about an hour to go.

Five minutes til Tony…still no food. At this point, we have to get going, so we apologize and ask that they could just cancel our food and we’ll pay for the drinks. The staff are super empathetic and apologize in return for the delay. Mind now that we completely understand and let them know that we’re not upset in the slightest.

In swoops Nicole…the best hostess and manager that we’ve ever had grace us with her presence. She warmly expresses that she feels sorry that she “couldn’t feed us” and comps our drinks. My husband and I let her know that we will be returning after the show. Hours later, we make good on our promise and as soon as we walk in, the host let’s us know that they’ve got a table set for us. After a brief moment, Nicole floats over and, already knowing our entire order, settles us into a comfy booth. The food comes out quickly this time, and it is mind-blowingly delicious. We enjoy every last morsel and thank the staff profusely for having us. We get ready to leave and ask for the check. “Oh, you two don’t have one…you’re already taken care of!” Nicole had comped everything…again. My husband and I almost didn’t know what to do with ourselves!

Nicole…you and your staff made us feel like a million dollars. Now, very soon, we will be coming back with our entire family to pay a visit. Thank you.

I ordered 3 pieces of fried chicken (a thigh and 2 legs). The fried chicken wasn’t served sizzling hot, which was disappointing. It tasted okay but frankly I have had better fried chicken. The cole slaw was average too.

Really disappointed, I guess it was an off night based on the reviews. I was pretty impressed with the server – she was friendly, asked it was the first time at the restaurant, and engaged in conversation. Unfortunately she was the waitress at the table beside us. The waiter we had looked barely interested in serving us. Well okay fine, we were excited for the food. The chicken was dry, the mashed potatoes were cold and the gravy congealed, the cornbread tasted great by fell apart when you touched it, and you couldn’t taste the fries for the herbs. Never given a refill of water and ordering a beer was a chore. Too bad because we’re looking forward to eating there on our trip to Pittsburgh.
