This was one of the best meals of my life. Honestly incredible. I had: the hush puppies with comeback sauce to start, the drumsticks with warm spicy honey, french fries, homemade biscuits with butter and blackberry jam, and a blackberry lemonade with vodka. Every aspect of it was on point. The hush puppies were perfectly mixed and fried, and the (presumably homemade) comeback sauce made them cravable. The drumsticks were massive, 5 of them for $12 is an insane deal in 2026, especially considering they are the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly pressure-cooked to make them maximally moist while still keeping the skin tender and flavorful. They were excellently seasoned, and they gave me an absurd amount of warmed spicy honey for $1 that paired deliciously with the chicken. The fries were also perfectly seasoned and fried, and the biscuits were the perfect vessel for some of the best blackberry jam I’ve ever tasted. And as a true lover of vodka-lemonades, theirs definitely gets my seal of approval. I should also mention that the vibes were immaculate. Granted, I went an hour before close, so they were not busy at all. But it’s a beautiful and chill space, and the music is exactly what you expect and want to hear while eating fried chicken in Detroit. And the service was welcoming, fast, and extremely attentive. If there was a way to improve my experience, I have absolutely no clue what it would have been. I can’t wait to go back next week!

October 2025 – came here before going to the LCA. What a great restaurant! The food and service was great. We ordered the whole chicken, collards, mashed potatoes, green beans, and spoonbread. Everything was very good and my wife and I could not finish it all. We also ordered some hush puppies that were very good too. The service was very good. If you want a good meal, and you like southern cooking, this is a great place to go to.

Difficult review incoming… The Eagle Downtown Detroit was almost good on every level—but sadly, it wasn’t. First, I have to say the chicken is great, and the spicy honey served alongside it is phenomenal. Sadly… that’s where The Eagle begins and should have ended for me.
Service (3/5): When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty. My wife and I were seated right away, and our waitress mentioned she was training another server—no problem at all. You’d think that would mean double the attention, right? Unfortunately, we ended up waiting around for refills, boxes, and even just a general check-in from either of them. Disappointing. On the bright side, the food came out quickly.
Food (2.5/5): As I mentioned, the chicken and honey were fantastic. But the rest? Not so much.
• Burnt ends: mostly dry.
• Mac and cheese: more of a flour-based. sauce than actual cheese.
• Coleslaw: honestly the worst I’ve ever had—why was it nearly warm?!
• Cornbread: finally, something done well. It was very good.
Atmosphere (4/5): Definitely a nice-looking establishment, especially for a fried chicken restaurant. But if they focused more on food and service instead of just appearances, it would go a long way. Atmosphere is never my top priority.

Originally, we had planned to go to Bakersfield, but there was an hour and a half wait due to a Red Wings game so we decided to try the Eagle and they did not disappoint. The food was amazing. I got the BLT sandwich and the hush puppies and my companion got the chicken and some macaroni and cheese. All of the food was extremely good extremely flavorful. The service was amazing Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.

The cocktails here were amazing! The staff were very polite!! I wasn’t a fan of the chicken, not seasoned to my liking. However, I can appreciate they use organic, zero hormone poultry. You can truly taste the difference! My shrimp and grits were bomb! My sister said her sandwich was good! Worth a try if you’re in the area.

If you’ve never been to The Eagle, do yourself a favor and go! Their brined fried chicken is seasoned to perfection—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—and that special spiced honey drizzled on top takes it right over the edge. The sides are just as memorable: the shrimp and grits are creamy and rich, the vegetable succotash tastes like summer in a bowl, and the baked mac and cheese is pure comfort. It took me a minute to write this review but it’s not because they were slacking. No sir! My cousin Rhea told me about this place. She told me there is one in Cincinnati. (Base) I arrived when they first opened. Rio was at the bar and was very knowledgeable about the history and the menu of the restaurant. I enjoyed the chopped salad at the restaurant but took the famous fried chicken with hot honey sauce home. The salad had everything from corn, beans, cheese, lettuce, (kitchen sink)! I mean so many ingredients that went well together. A must try. The chicken was juicy, moist and flavorful. I can’t put my hand on the seasonings but pretty good. The mac&cheese was different but very good. Not the way I prepare but the creamy texture and the flavor was spot on! Rio made a delicious drink. I will go back and I do suggest you visit The Eagle.

We stumbled upon The Eagle because we were fleeing downtown Detroit due to a concert at Ford Field. I really didn’t want more fried food but the kids were getting restless. We walked in without a reservation and thank goodness they had seating for us. Menu was based around fried chicken with many great sides. We ordered a half bird with collards, sweet potatoes, hush puppies and shrimp & grits. A few bourbon cocktails to start and we were ready to dig in. Our kids loved the puppies, grits and chicken. We all enjoyed the chicken and I really loved the collard greens. The sweet potatoes with the caramelized marshmallows was like a dessert. The chicken was so moist with a light flavourful breading and the hot honey added additional complexity to the chicken. Food was fantastic, service from Tristen was amazing – only downside was the music was a bit loud. But then again it was an upscale bar geared towards a different crowd maybe without kids. A must try if you love fried chicken and southern sides.

Food was fantastic. I ordered the fried chicken blt with Cole slaw and spoon bread (skillet corn bread) but we also tried the sweet potatoes, burnt end nachos and a spicy chicken dip. Everything was amazing. We will definitely return!
