A restaurant is only a good as the staff working there…. This said, The Dugout is the Best! I have an amazing crew who continually go over and above to make your experience a great one. We strive to give you the best service in town and take pride in knowing the meats that are served are fresh from the local butcher – Bibs Meats – and cooked in house! We never use processed cheese or frozen breads or French fries. All of our salads and sandwiches are made to order so feel free to get picky. We are also know as the home of a Full glass of wine! The food is good, it’s reasonably priced and while I can’t speak to the entire menu, my club sandwich was filling and the gravy was thick. Just the way I like it.
This place is a bit of an oddball. The service is genuinely good, the people are welcoming and happy.
It is the most lovely bar/restaurant I’ve been to in ages. It has its share of what I can only imagine are regulars enjoying each other’s company and having a good time.
I think where this place shines is that you can tell it’s a local where people are happy to gather, share stories, and connect over reasonably priced food and drinks.

I was thinking about getting some Asian food but wanted to try local, and it turned out to be amazing!
The steak here is just around $20 (a few dollars more for toppings like mushrooms and onions), but it tastes no different from steak at higher-tier restaurants.

We decided to go to the Dug Out simply because it was open after 8pm and had steak. We knew a pub type restaurant most likely would not have great steak but it would be passable. Boy were we wrong in a good way. I have had $40 steaks that weren’t as good as the $20 steak we enjoyed. Our bill was 1/2 the price of many of our outings and yet the food was as good if not better. We had a medium rare and rare steak both cooked perfectly and we enjoyed the fried pickles as an appetizer and the sweat potato fries as a side. I found the fries a little cooler than I would like but that is me being picky. We even had room for desert and we weren’t disappointed.

Went for lunch, as we haven’t been there in quite a while. Nothing has changed other than the decor. Lol. Still great food, great service, great atmosphere. We found the prices reasonable for the amount of food you receive.

We had a wonderful experience dining in. I made a reservation the day before just to make sure we have a spot for Friday night dinner. My family friend and her kids came all the way from Toronto. They we’re delayed for an hour so I called again 3 hours before the time I book it for and the staff was nice to accommodate us. It was full house when we got there.
I ordered a Hot beef meal with gravy and fries on the side. It comes with a bread underneath it, I’ve never had that before and it was really good. I wish I ask if they have steamed veggies. My 6-year-old had quesadilla and fries for his dinner. He also ask for a dessert, so he ordered Reese’s pieces cake. It was delicious! If you love Reese’s pieces or just peanut butter, that dessert is amazing!
Overall, we had a good time. I definitely recommend going there. Next time, I’d try their Salmon, the vegetables on the side looks delicious!

First of all if you want water you have to pay for it, second we had to wave for someone to come for drink order and when she came she wanted us to give our meal order. After she brought the teas we asked for milk, one of us had half her tea done by the time another waitress came with milk and she even said “here’s your milk that we ordered 30 seconds ago” the original waitress only came back to give us our bill. We asked here why she gave us bad service? She said we were rude. We asked for the manager. As it turned out that the lady that brought us our milk was not just the manager but the owner as well. When we asked her how we were rude she said we waved our hands at them like they were our slaves. I said we were paying for their waiting services, not our slave. We should not have to wave our hands at them to get their attention! I and our party of 4 will not ever go back to this establishment. Our onion rings were burnt and our Reuben had very little sauerkraut. I highly suggest to anyone to find another restaurant to go to as I’m sure every restaurant in this area has probably more enjoyable atmosphere to it!☹️

It was our anniversary and we had precious little time before heading back to Campbellford to meet our two five year olds off the bus. The staff executed a flawless experience. The food was excellent, and the staff work together in a professional courteous manner that I last saw only in the army. Thanks for a great lunch four 11th anniversary.

Absolutely LOVE this place! Took my mom here for dinner and she asked for red wine..she got a FULL glass! She was laughing so hard she could barely hold it! You must check before going as the restaurant may be closed to the public.
In my past review, I was perhaps harsh as 3 times in a row they were closed to the public.
Last night we gave them another chance. About 70 percent of the restaurant was closed to the public but they did allow us in.
AGAIN MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA.
As for the food, it was fantastic as we remembered it back when it wasn’t always closed.
I have attached images.
Although their coleslaw with fish n chips is just about the worst I’ve had the fish n chips were great. Chef needs help with coleslaw recipe, I could rescue him, but for the love of something will someone help him or her.
Other than that no complaints.
