Food: We have come here on multiple occasions to play our board games and when we do, we generally have a meal to go along with it. The food is consistent throughout with good flavour across most of what you order. However the star of the show is the seabass.

Service: Generally pretty solid if unspectacular service with helpful waiters and waitresses who are chill.

Atmosphere: There is a good loud atmosphere when the place is crowded and a nice relaxing and calm atmosphere when it is quieter. I think it’s got something for everyone here, whether it be just to come for a drink or to watch a football match.

A fab pub! I had my 30th birthday dinner there in the private room and it was truly perfect. Matt was particuarly helpful throughout the planning and incredibly kind with his time. Sarah and Phoebe were really lovely and helped make the evening seamless.

Great hide away pub near the Kia Oval cricket ground, just a 5 minute walk from the gates. Not to mention a great refuge on those rainy cricketing days!

Very clean pub With friendly attentive staff, food came quickly with a decent fish and chips being served. Lots of seating at the front with a restaurant / function room in the back.

Wide selection of drinks available including (at time of writing), a good range of lagers, ales and spirits. The Aperol spritz went down particularly well when the sun came out.

Santander bikes located just opposite the pub to park up if arriving by bicycle. Like bikes can also be parked in the area on test day which was helpful.

Wow I was not expecting this pub food to be this level. The smoker produced exquisite meat and the smoked tomato salad was incredibly tasty. The level of food I would expect at a high quality restaurant. Really lovely staff.

I had my birthday lunch here on a Sunday at 3pm. I wanted a really good roast and good atmosphere and this pub exceeded my expectations. The food was outstanding, I was blown away. I had roast beef. Meat was cooked to perfection, delicious potatoes, veg and the Yorkshire puddings were on point. Not only fantastic food but the service from start to finish was incredible. I went in person to book, they were accomodating, helped me choose a nice table. When we arrived on the day, the table was already laid and looked beautiful. We had a drink outside while we looked over the menu, then went inside for our food. Nothing was a problem, all the staff were ‘can do’ attitude and just very friendly and kind. I would highly recommend and will be coming back in the future. All my family were impressed and it was a great day. Thank you.

I feel bad writing this but honestly I have never seen a bar run in such a way. I used to go this pub religiously. I asked for a cocktail and was immediately given a very blunt no from a man that said he was the manager which was pretty rude without even offering an alternative. The bartenders offered to make me something anyway they had the ingredients on the shelf. He was sitting at the end of the bar drinking a beer on his phone at 8 in the evening whilst two very young polite bartenders were behind the bar. It was shocking to be honest. I decided to sit down and have a beer and had something eat as I’d already travelled pretty far as I’d seen some things online, the ox cheek croquettes were super friendly.

Fantastic little find.
Great balance of ‘old pub’ atmosphere with modern cleanliness.
Cracking Roasts, great staff and warm atmosphere.
It’s a little off the usual routes but definitely deserves more attention.
Definitely deserving of a Taylor Swift song!

The Christmas set menu looked promising, but the experience fell short. The pub was trying to host a private party while operating as usual, with a busy bar and dinner service, but lacked finesse. The party had taken over every space; upon arrival, there was no table available. Shouting over guests and loud music made it hard to hear how the situation would be resolved. Eventually, we were seated and reassured we’d be treated as VIPS. The food was basic- artichoke soup was stringy, salmon arrived late with green new potatoes, and the duck had swum off into a sea of tinned butter beans. The turkey dinner, served with a Yorkshire pudding, featured undercooked potatoes, uncooked pigs in blankets, and bullet sprouts, all heaped unappetisingly on the plate. After this course, we waited- nothing arrived despite three trips to the bar to find out why. It turned out the sweet was at least another 20 minutes away. The space was too noisy to speak, so it was time to leave. The bill took ages to settle because we had opted out of the set menu. . Although apologies were made, it was chaos and poorly managed.
