I meant to write this review like two months ago. This was my first full experience at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it! As section hiker of the AT, this was the perfect spot to stay the night before my hike. It’s affordable, the staff is great, and the bar atmosphere and food is wonderful! Not to mention, good beer. 🙂 Highly recommend The Doyle if you’re looking for a fun getaway. The locals are pretty awesome as well! Safe travels folks. Oh, photos were taken early in the morning as I was leaving for my hike.

Years ago I used to eat here several times a year when passing by. I had not been there since the new owners have it, which has been 4 years. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the improvements. I was thinking about getting the bourbon salmon or the Maui Maui. Then I noticed they had Ukrainian borscht. When I asked about it, it turns out they are Ukrainian. I couldn’t pass that up. A very large meal size bowl and comes with the side of your choice. It was absolutely wonderful! Especially considering the chilly weather. Very flavorful, extremely filling and satisfying!

Been here a few times for music, beer, and food.
I would recommend to ask if anything is spicy… there has been a few times I ordered items that I did not expect to be spicy… and they were.
Great history and architecture! . Always have a good time! The smoked salmon BLT is awesome! I also enjoy the Cuban!

My friend and I stayed at the Doyle Hotel in mid-December. Unfortunately, the block the hotel is located on lost power during our stay, which was out of their control.

We have to give a huge shoutout to the owners and staff member Tim, who were incredibly accommodating. They brought us extra blankets, moved us to an alternate room with a wall-mounted gas heater, and as it started to get dark, they even brought us a candle!

Luckily, the power was restored before the restaurant/bar opened for dinner! Our meal at the downstairs restaurant was fantastic. We enjoyed fresh-cut French fries, a delicious salad topped with steak!

After dinner, we had the pleasure of watching Shea Quinn perform in the upstairs room/bar. It was fascinating to see the hotel transition from a quiet, power-less building to a lively space filled with people enjoying dinner and the show.

We highly recommend staying at the Doyle Hotel. It has the charm of a vintage boarding house, and the woodwork and architecture are truly remarkable. If you love antiques and a nostalgic atmosphere, this is the place for you. I can also see how it would be appealing to Appalachian Trail hikers.

Had a great night there. Met some friends. That seems to be like one of those bars were everybody is friends. What’s really cool is if your Appalachian Trail hiker the whole bar is the trail.
Some of the best wings and fries I’ve ever had. It was super small. The music was fantastic. My bartender was great. Can’t say enough good. Meant a young man there who had just won a gold medal at the special Olympics at Villanova.

I was there working a fundraiser event in the upstairs room. The Doyle is a beautiful piece of history, a must see. I want to go back and check out the down stairs and of course the food. You can rent a room there if you like and they welcome hikers. I will give 5 stars once I’ve had the food. It looked good.

We had an unforgettable stay at The Doyle Hotel, and a huge part of that was thanks to Donald Jr. After seven of us came off the Appalachian Trail, we were ready for some well-earned rest—and the town of FUNCannon delivered! Donald was incredibly kind, calm, and welcoming. He made us feel completely at home, like we were relaxing in our own living room. The Doyle has such a unique charm, and Donald’s hospitality took it to another level. Our trip wouldn’t have been the same without him. We’re already talking about making this an annual tradition!

We stopped in on a Sunday early evening for live music and had a couple drinks, no food. The building is historic which makes this a really cool spot. There was a banquet room and bar on the second floor with a wraparound balcony that was accessible. The upstairs was closed for service at the time we visited. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The bartender was personable and attentive. They did just also open a coffee shop with limited hours and I will be back to check that out. Nice stop for beverage or quick bite to eat if you are hiking Hawk Rock or the AT and a place to sleep if you need.

This grand old lady was originally built by Adolphus Busch partially as an icehouse to assist shipping his STL products across country. There are several rooms on the second and third floors – no elevators, and many of the rooms share a bath (you can book your rooms online and look for the amenities that you might want, like your own bathroom, etc.).

This place has a restaurant and full bar. There is a second bar upstairs that they open when very busy or for events. It also has a lovely veranda that allows for some great people watching and just hanging out. We enjoyed the food – I went with the chicken and rice, an amazing dish with seared chicken and peppers in a brown rice base – it was amazing.

This place has a storied history with the AT hiker crowd, evidence of which is the multiple maps throughout the hotel of the trail. This is a family run affair and is decidedly local – this was a great stay and a great meal.
