The Doghouse has been an icon in New Castle for 70 years. Our foot long dogs have been consistently voted best in Delaware. We also offer great cheese steaks and burgers as well. Came in for subs. Was told there’s no subs being sold right now. Ordered two hot dogs and two cheesesteaks. The hot dogs didn’t have any toppings even though we asked for them. As for the cheesesteaks.. I asked for peppers on one and there’s more peppers than there is cheesesteak.. oh and don’t get me started on the fries

This place reminds me of the Doghouse that was located on Concord Pike in N. Wilmington. I use to go there regularly as a kid. These hot dogs are awesome and I also love their cheesesteaks and burgers. Whatever the season they sprinkle on their fries, once I start eating them, I can’t stop. Old school atmosphere with good and quick service.

We were passing through town and happened upon this place. It is so friendly and the food is delicious. The house relish is something special. Cheesesteaks are finely minced. Loved the cheeseburger. They have seasoning salt and vinegar for the fries!

Definitely not all its hyped up to be. Truly disappointed. Service was super friendly nice People BUT my hot dog was barley luke warm and unless there’s a shortage of chili in Delaware I didn’t know about hardly any chili on my hot dogs (2) of them. Wasn’t happy with the $16.35 i spent for 2 chili cheese dogs and a large soda. I would have loved to rave about this place but can’t say I was happy at all… its sad because I was on a driving detail and thought I found something good to eat. Not the case.

The Dog House Restaurant is officially our go-to stop when flying out of Wilmington—and this was our second visit, which says a lot. Everything is fantastic and crazy fast. We had the hot dogs (so good) cheeseburgers, and I swear the fries and onion rings are just waiting for you—hot and ready every time. The milkshakes are fabulous, and every single person working there is genuinely nice and welcoming. Consistently great food, great service, and the perfect pre-flight stop. We’ll absolutely be back again and again.

A Delaware institution. It’s under new ownership, but they haven’t changed the atmosphere or charm of the place (and they finally take cards!). As long as you know what you’re getting into, you’ll have a great time. It’s barstool seating only, directly across from the grill. You might have to wait a few minutes for a stool to open up, but the service is incredibly fast and the food couldn’t be any more fresh off the grill. It’s quite literally straight off the grill and onto the counter for you. Be aware that if you’re going with a group of more than 2, you’ll have a hard time getting stools together or will have to wait longer (or bargain for seats).

It is exactly what the name insinuates….they have hot dogs. And burgers and steak sandwiches. I was there for the dogs. Kraut dog with spicy mustard and a chili cheese dog with diced sauce onions. Dogs are split to cook quicker on the flat top, delicious. Condiments are used appropriately, not too little and not too much that they overflow the bun. Also snagged a milkshake that was perfect and an order of onion rings that were also spot on excellent.
Pricing is pretty doggone (hahaha) good for what you get portion wise, but the taste of the food made the prices perfect.
I did take out and my order was ready in maybe 10 minutes of walking in the door. Definitely less than 10 minutes, which worked well at the end of a stressful day of work.

This is an awsome hot dog house, the food is simple , delicious, and decently priced. Its a staple of delaware where you get a dog any style, cheese steaks, fries soda. With a smile. The staff are very friendly .
The only issue is that it is a very quaint place, with bar style seating no booths.
